Africa Day 2025: Vision for a Peaceful, Prosperous and Sustainable Africa

On the evening of May 23, in Hanoi, the Africa Day 2025 Celebration was organized by the Embassies of African countries in Vietnam with the theme "Justice for Africans and people of African descent through forms of reparation".

The solemn ceremony took place with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and representatives of the Embassies of 8 African countries including: Morocco, Algeria, Mozambique, Nigeria, Angola, Libya, Egypt and South Africa.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, on behalf of the group of African Ambassadors to Vietnam, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Jamale Chouaibi shared that the celebration of Africa Day in Vietnam is not only an occasion to commemorate the history and common achievements between the two continents, but also a special opportunity to envision a future where friendship and cooperation between African countries and Vietnam will be increasingly strong.

In addition, Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi said that African countries highly appreciate Vietnam's commitment to promoting comprehensive partnerships with African countries, demonstrated through Vietnam's role as an official observer of the African Union, as well as its strategic vision of placing Africa at the center of its foreign policy.

Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi also said that the impressive achievements that Vietnam has made over the past three decades such as sustainable economic growth, attracting foreign investment, improving agricultural productivity, and reducing poverty are a great inspiration for many African countries to see as a development model worth learning from.

Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi hopes that in the future, cooperation between African countries and Vietnam in areas such as food security, health security and energy will continue to be prioritized. In addition, disease control, environmental protection, disaster management and efficient use of resources are also common challenges that both Africa and Vietnam are working hard to address.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang sent congratulations on the 62nd anniversary of Africa Day, an event honoring the spirit of solidarity and unity of Africa in the past struggle for liberation and the progress in the construction and development of Africa today.

On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, the Deputy Minister sent the best wishes to the Governments and people of African countries, the Ambassadors and Charge d'Affaires of African embassies residing in Hanoi and African friends living, working and studying in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang congratulated Africa on its great achievements in all fields, and highly appreciated the position and prestige of the African Union (AU) in the region and globally. At the same time, she affirmed that Vietnam always supports and believes that the AU will have an increasingly important voice in regional and international forums, making active contributions to solving global challenges, for a fair, integrated and prosperous world.

The Deputy Minister expressed his honor to welcome many high-ranking delegations from many African countries to attend the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit and the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. These are clear evidences of the sentiments, valuable support and importance attached to developing relations with Vietnam by African friends and partners that Vietnam highly appreciates.

In the new development stage, Vietnam always wishes to further deepen the multifaceted cooperation with Africa, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Vietnam is ready to continue to accompany and make more practical contributions to the AU Agenda 2063. Vietnam believes that, with the wise guidelines and unwavering determination of the AU Leaders and the African people, and the effective support of the international community, the vision of a peaceful, prosperous and sustainably developed Africa will soon become a reality.
