On March 28, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the Government Inspectorate to immediately conduct an inspection of the implementation of the inspection conclusion on the equitization of Vietnam Feature Film Studio (VFS) and to implement the direction of Government leaders on related contents.
In April, the Government Inspectorate issued Decision No. 129/QD-TTCP on the inspection of Inspection Conclusion No. 447/KL-TTCP dated March 30, 2018, and Inspection Conclusion (supplementary) No. 1412/KL-TTCP dated August 23, 2018 of the Government Inspectorate on the equitization of Vietnam Feature Film Studio. The inspection period is 10 actual working days, from the date of announcement of the inspection decision on April 14.
Desolate scene at Vietnam Feature Film Studio.
Up to now, nearly 2 months past the deadline, the problems at Vietnam Feature Film Studio still have not been resolved. Artists and staff are waiting for the equitization scandal at the Film Studio to be resolved, after many years of artists struggling with all kinds of jobs because the Film Studio is not operating.
"Everyone is waiting for the inspection results and the Government's direction. The matter is clear, but we have been waiting for a long time without receiving any news or announcement," director and Meritorious Artist Bui Trung Hai told Tien Phong.
Previously, a series of directives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Government Office were issued to resolve the backlog at VFS. However, many unresolved issues have caused the case to reach a dead end. Regarding the divestment of strategic investor Vivaso Waterway Transport Company, Ms. Phan Linh Chi - Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance (MOCST) said at a meeting at the MOCST that the Ministry cannot unilaterally revoke Vivaso's shares.
Regarding the source of payment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has a roadmap for implementation according to the direction of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh from that time, but the key point is that the number of strategic investors given is still not available.
Facilities are degraded, nearly 300 film copies are severely damaged.
Responding to Tien Phong about the difficulties in the divestment process, Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Feature Film Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, Deputy General Director of Vivaso emphasized that Vivaso has sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requesting permission to divest capital at Vietnam Feature Film Studio ahead of schedule.
"After the Government Inspectorate's conclusion on the equitization of Vietnam Feature Film Studio, we were allowed to divest ahead of schedule. In the Government Inspectorate's conclusion, there was no statement about retrieving shares from strategic investors. The concepts of divestment in an enterprise and retrieving shares are completely different in nature," Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang explained the reason for not completing the retrieving shares.
According to the Resolution at the regular Government meeting in May 2023, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with agencies and localities to resolve within their authority and submit to competent authorities to thoroughly handle the problems and issues at the My Dinh National Sports Complex and Vietnam Feature Film Studio.
