Cakes are an indispensable spiritual gift on birthdays. Over the years, cakes are also widely used for other special occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, parties, etc. Because the demand for giving and buying cakes is increasing and requires strict aesthetics, bakers are constantly learning and researching to make cakes more diverse in form and ingredients than before.
Over the years, cakes have evolved into many more unique styles than before. Flower cakes, savory cakes, cakes made from fondant sugar... Currently, the cake market has welcomed a new breeze with the name "sculpted cakes". Hearing the two words "sculpted", customers can feel the ingenuity, detail and talent of the craftsman who made it. With her skillful hands, Ms. To Nhat Minh, owner of Banh Ngot shop, 50 Nguyen Huu Le, Ward 2, Ca Mau city, has been involved in making cakes for more than 3 years now. From birthday cakes for children, anniversary cakes, cakes designed on request... all do not disappoint customers. With passion and talent, Ms. Minh recently began to research and make the first and only sculpted cakes in Ca Mau.

Sculpted cakes were researched and learned by Ms. Minh. With the creativity and knowledge of cakes accumulated over many years of working, Ms. Minh experimented with the new line of cakes.
Ms. Minh shared: “I use different decoration methods for each cake model, each decoration method will apply a different technique. For example, using flower sculpture art to create a peacock tail, for family cakes, I use food coloring printed on rice paper (a type of paper made from rice flour) to create decorative details on the cake, the key is to make these details both realistic and safe and create the meaning that customers want to express through the cake”.
Sculpting is a technique in cake decoration. This technique requires creativity, meticulousness and high concentration. Ms. Minh informed: “Sculpting is a new technique from Korea, inspired by flower carving techniques. First, I tried it on a traditional costume cake, using the technique of shaping with sugar candy to create details of the dress combined with cake drawing and sculpting petals to make a peacock tail to create a complete cake”.
Sculpted cakes will cost more than traditional cakes, because it requires more time and effort from the baker than regular cakes.
Ms. Minh shared: “With the sculpted cake line, the craftsman sees it as a special work of art, not just a product, so the price will be higher, the average price for a designed cake is from 400,000 VND or more.”
Ms. Minh informed: "I constantly try new cake lines. That is the way for me to find joy in my work, challenge my own abilities and contribute to creating many spiritual values for everyone"./.
