Recently, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. It affirmed that science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are decisive factors in the development of countries.

Science , technology, innovation and digital transformation are also prerequisites and the best opportunities for Vietnam to develop richly and powerfully in the new era - the era of national growth.

Along with that vision, the Politburo sets a goal that by 2030, the potential, level of science, technology and innovation will reach advanced levels in many important fields, and be among the leading countries with upper-middle income.

Commenting on this event, Dr. Mai Liem Truc, former Director General of the General Department of Posts and Telecommunications, former Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, said that the birth of Resolution No. 57 is the most important event in the Vietnamese IT industry in 2024.

As a member of the ThinkTank policy advisory group, Dr. Mai Liem Truc was also surprised by the rapid pace of the issuance of Resolution No. 57, with General Secretary To Lam directly holding the role of Head of the Central Steering Committee on science, technology development, innovation and digital transformation.

We do not say this is the second renovation, but in fact it is a manifestation of the second renovation that we have longed for 10-15 years ago. The second renovation has a new name, the new era, the era of national development. This is a very good slogan ,” said Mr. Mai Liem Truc.

Sharing about the significance of Resolution No. 57 for the development of the information and communication industry, Mr. Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that, in general, after Resolution No. 57, Vietnam's telecommunications infrastructure in the coming period will certainly receive investment attention, synchronized with all other fields.

This is a major policy for our industry as well as businesses on the development journey. In the coming time, in addition to disseminating to each agency, Party cell, and Party member, the Ministry of Information and Communications will also have specific plans to implement Resolution No. 57," said the Deputy Director of the Telecommunications Department.

From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Huy, Head of MobiFone Digital Transformation Department, said that Resolution No. 57 is the right decision of the Politburo.

Sharing the excitement, Head of MobiFone Digital Transformation Board said: “ Resolution 57 states to allocate 2% of GDP for research and development, 3% of the national budget for innovation, science and technology and digital transformation. Strive to bring Vietnam into the top 3 in Southeast Asia by 2030, top 50 in the world in digital competitiveness. I sat reading Resolution 57 all night, really absorbing every word .”

Resolution No. 57 sets out the goal of nationwide 5G coverage by 2030, as well as the completion of smart city deployment in centrally-run cities. It can be seen that this is a huge amount of work. This is an opportunity for us to deploy 5G. Resolution No. 57 will pave the way for network operators ,” said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Huy.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of Technology Department of VNPT Group, Resolution No. 57 clearly shows the focus on creating breakthroughs, driving force to promote technology, technology application, and innovation. This is a very strong impulse, affecting all areas of the economy and society.

Resolution 57 mentions the need to cover the whole country with 5G by 2030. With such orientation, we will certainly increase the target of building and developing infrastructure. VNPT hopes to have legal and policy solutions to help the network attract investment from society to develop a good infrastructure, ” shared the Deputy Head of Technology Department of VNPT Group.
