The grassroots trade union and the Youth Union mobilized union members to participate in blood donation; departments and offices mobilized 40% of cadres, civil servants and workers to participate in voluntary blood donation. The Executive Committee of the hospital's grassroots Youth Union launched a voluntary blood donation movement with the message "A drop of blood given - A life left behind". Voluntary blood donation is a noble gesture, demonstrating the spirit of humanity, responsibility to the community and a proud traditional beauty of those working in the medical profession. With the spirit of pioneering and shock, the Executive Committee of the Lam Dong General Hospital's grassroots Youth Union called on all union members, young people in particular, and hospital staff in general, to actively register to participate in blood donation on a voluntary basis, demonstrating the kind heart, the spirit of sharing and the noble responsibility of a physician.
In the morning, hundreds of officers, civil servants and employees from departments and rooms in the hospital registered to donate blood voluntarily, resulting in 142 units of blood being received.
BSCKII Nguyen Xuan Tao - Acting Director of Lam Dong General Hospital visited and encouraged colleagues to donate blood. |
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tao - Acting Director of Lam Dong General Hospital said: Mobilizing and receiving blood and blood products is an important and regular task of the hospital. Every day, the hospital receives over 800 inpatients; including many emergency patients due to traffic accidents, gastrointestinal bleeding, blood diseases... the need for blood transfusion is very high. Every week, the hospital organizes many blood collection and blood mobilization sessions, through the Red Cross of the province, districts, cities, agencies, units, police, schools, localities... to mobilize blood for emergency and patient treatment.
In recent years, the Hospital has mobilized and ensured a very good supply of blood and blood products for emergency care. However, in the summer from June to September, blood mobilization is difficult due to the fact that the blood donation force from university students is on summer vacation, which limits some blood-related work.
Lam Dong General Hospital has nearly 800 staff, civil servants, and workers, most of whom understand the significance of blood donation. The hospital has a “lifeblood source” that needs to be mobilized in emergency situations; union members and young people are ready to donate blood, especially rare blood types for emergency blood donation. The hospital has also had many individuals honored for donating blood many times throughout their professional careers to save lives.
*READY TO MOBILE "LIVING BLOOD"

Master Doan Hoang Anh - Head of the Testing Department of Lam Dong General Hospital said: "Every year, Lam Dong General Hospital receives about 12 thousand units of blood to supply at the Hospital and Hoan My Da Lat Hospital, Children's Hospital, Medical Centers of Lac Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Don Duong, Dam Rong districts... The hospital staff is like a "living blood bank", regardless of day or night, whenever there is an emergency case requiring blood, they call on the doctors on duty to donate immediately. I myself have donated about 20 times; a week ago, I donated blood suddenly for a case in the Resuscitation Department that needed blood while my family had not yet arrived, the hospital mobilized staff to donate 6 units of blood to save the patient who had lost a lot of blood. Since I was a student, the hospital staff has regularly donated blood right at the Testing Department. Every month, the staff of the Testing Department organizes 4-5 blood collection trips, sometimes when the blood supply is too short, they have to increase the trips to ensure blood for the operation. emergency, patient treatment".
Doctor Nguyen Ky Son - Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison is having his blood pressure checked to participate in blood donation. |
During this summer, in addition to the difficulties caused by students' summer vacation, the Red Cross Associations of districts and cities have stopped operating, predicting a large blood shortage in hospitals. For a long time, the Provincial General Hospital has coordinated with the Red Cross Associations of districts and cities to mobilize voluntary blood donations. In the near future, if there is still a shortage of blood, the Provincial General Hospital will mobilize all staff, civil servants and workers in the hospital to donate blood again.
Participating in the Blood Donation Festival, Dr. Tong Trong Duc, who works at the Intensive Care Unit of Di Linh District Medical Center and is studying for a 3-month Certificate of Practice in the Intensive Care Unit - Anti-Poisoning Unit of Lam Dong General Hospital, shared: The first time I donated blood, in the situation of a large number of patients needing blood, currently the amount of donated blood is less due to the summer vacation of students, so I feel that I need to donate blood to help patients. As everyone knows, donating blood is a noble act, since I was a student, I was busy studying for exams and did not have the conditions to donate blood, now I donate blood for the first time, I feel very meaningful, happy because my drops of blood save patients.
Ms. Pham Thi Dao - Bachelor of Nursing donated blood for the first time |
Ms. Pham Thi Dao - Bachelor of Nursing shared: "Previously, I was not healthy enough to donate blood because I was not underweight. During my work, I witnessed many patients needing blood transfusions. Sometimes, the department mobilized both medical staff and patients' relatives to donate blood to save patients. Nursing work is hard, requiring adequate nutrition, sleep, and rest to maintain good health to take care of patients. Responding to this movement, this was the first time I donated blood because I was underweight. However, I was still nervous, wondering if I would have low blood pressure or dizziness while donating blood. But now that I have donated blood and my health is stable, I am very happy."
Doctors and nurses came to donate blood early in the morning to continue working at the hospital. |
Ms. Nguyen Minh Nhat, 26 years old, a nurse working in the Intensive Care Unit, shared: "I have donated blood 3 times, and each time I was nervous. There are many seriously ill patients in the department, and every day there are people who need blood for emergency treatment. The previous times I donated blood at the fixed blood donation point of the Provincial Red Cross Society, there were times when the hospital was short of blood and mobilized staff to participate. I am a member of the hospital's youth union and am willing to donate blood."
Mr. Le Minh Khoi, who is working as a nurse in the operating room of the Department of Surgery, Anesthesia and Resuscitation of the Hospital, said: “I don’t remember how many times I have donated blood because I have worked at the Hospital for 15 years, and many times I have donated blood for emergency patients. Usually when I am working, the Hospital calls for patients who need blood, I go to donate blood, whenever the Hospital needs it, the Testing Department calls, I go because donating blood is very good.”
