On November 8, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision 1305/QD-TTg approving the National Program on increasing labor productivity by 2030.

The specific goal of the program is to achieve an average labor productivity growth rate of over 6.5%/year, of which the labor productivity growth rate in the processing and manufacturing industry will reach 6.5 - 7%/year; the average labor productivity growth rate in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector will reach 7% - 7.5%/year; and the average labor productivity growth rate in the service sector will reach 7% - 7.5%/year.

The labor productivity growth rate of key economic zones and 5 centrally-run cities is higher than the average labor productivity growth rate of the whole country in the period 2023 - 2030; striving to be among the top 3 ASEAN countries in terms of labor productivity growth rate by 2030.

To achieve the goal, the Government sets out key tasks and solutions, including strongly promoting initiatives to increase labor productivity.

Specifically, select a number of fields and localities to pilot the program to promote labor productivity, then expand it to the entire economy; research and propose the establishment of a national productivity committee based on international experience and ensuring suitability to Vietnam's practical conditions.

Along with that, carry out policy dialogue activities, share experiences on increasing labor productivity; regularly exchange and dialogue with the business community, investors and workers on requirements and barriers to improving labor productivity and recommend appropriate solutions.

In addition, strongly develop research, development, application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; focus on integrating solutions to increase labor productivity into programs, mechanisms and policies to build a digital government, digital economy and digital society; develop the science and technology market, encourage the formation of an innovation ecosystem; carry out extensive digital transformation in each industry, each field and each enterprise.

The Government will also promote the restructuring of economic space, improve the competitiveness of industries; develop regions and effectively link regions; form appropriate sub-regional development spaces in each socio-economic region to connect development, promote competitive advantages and increase labor productivity in sub-regions and each locality in the region; effectively implement the development orientation of priority service industries; improve competitiveness and service quality according to international standards and practices; form regional and world-class service centers for trade, tourism, finance, and logistics in a number of major cities...
