According to the People's Representative newspaper, speaking at the reception, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh emphasized the special significance of this high-level visit in the context of the two countries having just upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. She believes that President Emmanuel Macron's visit will open a new chapter in Vietnam-France relations in all areas, including cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh also affirmed that the presence of representatives of the Friendship Parliamentary Groups of both sides during high-level visits between the leaders of the two countries has demonstrated the important role of the parliamentary channel in promoting bilateral relations. Typical examples are the meetings with French parliamentarians during visits to Vietnam by President Francois Hollande (2016), Prime Minister Edouard Philippe (2018) and visits to France by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (2022), General Secretary and President To Lam (2024).
Emphasizing that the Vietnam-France relationship has never been as good and strong as it is today, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh said that the two sides have signed a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and both the French Senate and the French National Assembly. This is an important milestone creating a legal basis to promote bilateral parliamentary cooperation to a new height. The two countries' National Assemblies regularly maintain high-level and professional delegation exchanges, sharing legislative experience both bilaterally and within the framework of multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF).
