What did Ngoc Trinh say in court?

In court, defendant Ngoc Trinh stated that she did not intentionally break the law. "I intended to take the A2 exam," model Ngoc Trinh stated during the defendant's trial on the morning of February 2.

According to Ngoc Trinh’s testimony, the defendant was the one who took the initiative to arrange a date and time with defendant Tran Xuan Dong to practice driving; and defendant Dong was the one responsible for preparing the vehicle and the location for practice driving. Furthermore, the defendant thought that driving and practicing on a deserted road would be fine.

"The defendant did not assign anyone, it was just a habit," Ngoc Trinh stated.

Presiding Judge: "Who instructed the defendant?" Ngoc Trinh stated: "Mr. Dong was the instructor. Mr. Dong performed the movements for the defendant to see first, then the defendant performed them with Mr. Dong."

Ngoc Trinh stated that every time she went to practice, the people who went with her to film and support her were Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu (Ngoc Trinh's assistant), Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Son, Ms. Le Thi Hong Nhung, and Mr. Tran Ngoc Kien.

Interrogating Ngoc Trinh, the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy said that the defendant's statement that he practiced driving to take the A2 license test was unreasonable.

"While the defendant was researching and watching clips online, he saw girls performing movements while driving a motorbike, so he suddenly liked it and wanted to do it himself," Trinh confessed.

"The defendant was impulsive and overconfident, so he wanted to carry out those actions," Trinh choked up, about to cry. At that moment, the prosecutor's representative reminded the defendant Trinh to calm down.

The prosecutor asked: "What was the defendant's purpose in posting the video on social media?". Ngoc Trinh replied: "To keep as a souvenir."

The prosecutor questioned: "Memories should be kept to yourself, the defendant must know his position in society." Ngoc Trinh replied: "The defendant posted them on social media to commemorate because his phone was not enough to store them. Social media sites are where the defendant keeps memories."

After Ngoc Trinh answered the questions, the prosecutor said that the defendant was still going around in circles about the purpose of posting the videos on social networks.

Ngoc Trinh stated: "The defendant recognized his wrongdoing and did not want to deny it. The defendant affirmed that when he uploaded the video to social media, it was only to preserve memories. When he practiced, he did not know that the road was already in use."

Responding to the People's Court, defendant Tran Xuan Dong stated that he had never taught for driving schools before, he only taught outside customers and BMW customers.

Dong added that when arriving at the training ground, he was the one who ran first, performed the movements, then Ngoc Trinh would perform them again. Dong was assisted by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Son.

In addition, Dong stated that during the investigation, 4 motorbikes were confiscated. “The defendant likes motorbikes, so he bought a few. Of the 4 motorbikes confiscated, 3 belonged to the defendant and one belonged to Ngoc Trinh.” Dong stated the origin of the motorbikes as stated in the indictment, and Dong admitted that he “was aware that buying a motorbike of unknown origin was a violation of the law.”

According to Dong, at the time of buying the car, because he did not have much money but liked motorbikes, he accepted to buy several motorbikes of unknown origin.

According to the indictment, model Ngoc Trinh was tried for "disturbing public order" under Point a, Clause 2, Article 318 of the Penal Code, an organized crime with a penalty of 2 to 7 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Xuan Dong was tried for two crimes: "disturbing public order" under point a, clause 2, and "using fake documents of agencies and organizations" under clause 1, article 341 of the Penal Code.

The indictment stated that Ngoc Trinh did not have a license to drive a motorbike with a displacement of 175 cc or more (class A2 license), but Trinh discussed with Tran Xuan Dong to prepare a large-displacement motorbike and choose a location to drive. At the same time, Trinh assigned assistants Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu and Nguyen Thanh Long (Trinh's driver) and Tang Duy Khanh (Long's friend), Nguyen Hoang Son (Dong's assistant) to prepare phones and flycams to film.

On September 5 and 6 - October 6, 2023, Trinh and Dong drove large-displacement motorbikes and performed dangerous driving movements such as letting go of both hands, lying down, kneeling on the saddle... moving on many public transport routes in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City; negatively affecting public order and traffic safety.

Trinh then edited and reposted videos and images of dangerous driving and posted them on personal social media accounts such as: TikTok "Ngoc Trinh" 5 videos and received 478 thousand likes, 4,881 comments; Facebook "Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh (the girl eating out)" attracted 5,900 interactions; Fanpage "NGỌC TRINH" video of driving a large-displacement motorbike and getting into an accident leading to injury...

On October 19, 2023, Ngoc Trinh and Dong were temporarily detained and confessed to all their crimes.
