Recorded on the morning of September 12, from early morning, Lam Dong fishermen's boats loaded with mackerel arrived at the shore, signaling the main fishing season. At 8 am, Phan Thiet fishing port (Phan Thiet ward - Lam Dong province) was very busy when boats continuously docked, bringing with them full holds of fish. For over a month now, mackerel has been in season, so Phan Thiet port receives dozens of tons of mackerel every day. As soon as the ship docked, fishermen quickly transferred fish from the hold onto plastic trays, then pushed them straight to shore. On the beach, traders are waiting to classify, weigh and purchase fish on the spot. According to many fishermen, since the beginning of the year, the weather has been favorable so fishermen going offshore have had quite a good yield. After the September 2nd holiday, most fishing boats caught mackerel. Since the beginning of the year, the output unloaded at Phan Thiet Fishing Port has been more than 15,000 tons. Seafood purchasing businesses carry out the process of preserving fish for transportation to consumption. After being classified, mackerel is stored in cold boxes and transported to many provinces and cities for consumption. Workers classify fish after landing. In recent days, most boats have caught mackerel, some boats have reached dozens of tons of fish per trip, classifying and distributing to companies according to orders. Most of the mackerel are exploited by fishermen in the sea area about 15 - 20 nautical miles from the shore. This year's output is high, so the wholesale price of mackerel at the port fluctuates from 10 - 15 thousand VND/kg.
This year, the weather is favorable, fish are coming in a lot, so fishermen have more conditions to stay at sea and fishing grounds. The economic value of mackerel is not high, but with a large output, fishermen still have a good income. Income from mackerel not only helps families cover living expenses and invest in reproduction, but also motivates people to go to sea, keep their jobs and keep the sea.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the total number of fishing vessels arriving and departing from ports since the beginning of the year has been more than 44,000. The province's seafood output since the beginning of the year has reached 163,329 tons, up 3.62% over the same period.
