According to records in Sam Son ward, on August 24, fishermen pulled their boats together from the beach to Ho Xuan Huong street to take shelter from the storm.
At Sam Son ward's fishing port, border guards, the Fishing Port Management Board and local authorities were present early to guide boats to anchor.
Hundreds of boats docked one after another. Fishermen hurriedly pulled their boats, tied ropes, covered them with tarpaulins, and reinforced the hulls to avoid waves and wind.
During the day, although the weather in Sam Son was still sunny and windy, people were still not complacent, busy reinforcing and finding safe places to anchor their vehicles.
Functional forces, border guards and local authorities were also present, directly assisting fishermen in moving, arranging and tying boats.
In Tien Trang commune, an urgent atmosphere prevailed along the boat docks as storm No. 5 was approaching. All fishing boats of fishermen had been brought to safe anchorage.
Authorities and fishermen in Tien Trang commune are urgently checking, tying more ropes, and reinforcing aquaculture cages to limit damage when storms and floods hit.
Tien Trang commune authorities said that the locality will continue to send support forces and at the same time advise people to closely monitor weather forecasts and proactively prepare response plans in the coming days.
Previously, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a ban on going to sea from 8:00 a.m. on August 24 to proactively respond, calling on all vessels to move to safe places, minimizing damage caused by the storm. According to statistics, the whole Thanh Hoa province currently has 6,555 vehicles with more than 20,500 workers at sea.
