The 10,500 drone show has been halted.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the planned drone show featuring 10,500 drones on the evening of April 30th could not proceed as scheduled due to widespread signal interference. The show was also canceled on May 1st.

On the evening of April 30th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports announced the suspension of the drone performance on the Saigon River, specifically in the area between Ben Bach Dang Park (District 1) and Saigon Riverfront Park (Thu Duc City). This activity was part of the "Colors of Ho Chi Minh City" arts and sports program, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.

Accordingly, at 9:20 PM on April 30th, the organizing unit began a drone demonstration in the sky. However, due to widespread signal interference, which could compromise flight safety, the unit decided to halt the flight and recall the drone to ensure safety.

Notably, according to an announcement from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the drone show scheduled for May 1st will also be canceled.

Previously, according to the plan, the performance of 10,500 drones on April 30th was to conclude the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

This was the largest gathering of drones in the country. The event organizers have submitted a proposal to establish a Guinness World Record for the most drones performing simultaneously.

During the dress rehearsal on April 28th, the performance sparked controversy due to the significant amount of time dedicated to fulfilling sponsor obligations. Specifically, out of more than 7 minutes of the performance, the organizers spent approximately 5 minutes creating visuals related to VNPAY.
