Ha Tinh people spread the spirit of international solidarity, actively support the Cuban people

(Baohatinh.vn) - With the spirit of "helping friends as helping yourself", Ha Tinh people have been actively participating in supporting the Cuban people; at the same time, sharing information, calling on friends and relatives to join hands to help Cuba overcome difficulties.

On the occasion of the "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025" and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1960 - 2025), the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and related organizations have launched an appeal to all compatriots, cadres, soldiers, agencies, organizations, businesses, overseas Vietnamese communities and international friends to join hands to support the Cuban people. This is a practical activity to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters, epidemics and blockade and embargo policies; at the same time, foster and spread the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, demonstrating the loyal and steadfast love between the two peoples over the past half century.

The program named "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" takes place in 65 days (from August 13, 2025 to October 16, 2025) with the goal of mobilizing at least 65 billion VND to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and continue the cause of building and defending the country.

As of 11:00 a.m. on August 15, 2025, the program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba Friendship", within the framework of "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025", has received 125,320,915,432 VND from 589,368 supporters at home and abroad.

Immediately after the call was sent out through mass media and social networks, the program received strong response from a large number of cadres, party members, businesses and people throughout the province.

In a small house in Loc Ha commune, Colonel Nguyen Chi Thanh - former Deputy Division Commander, Chief of Staff of Division 341 (Military Region IV) could not hide his emotion when mentioning Cuba. After 40 years in the army, having been stationed in Quang Tri province - where Cuban President Fidel Castro visited in 1973, having heard and learned in depth stories about President Fidel Castro's affection for Vietnam, Colonel Thanh felt even more moved.

Colonel Nguyen Chi Thanh - former Deputy Division Commander, Chief of Staff of Division 341 (Military Region IV) supported Cuba and posted this meaningful activity on his personal website, calling on everyone to spread it.

“Cuba President Fidel Castro has visited Vietnam many times. He and the Cuban people have supported the revolutionary spirit of the Vietnamese people and donated many meaningful socio -economic projects to Vietnam. So there is no reason why, when Cuba is in difficulty, the Vietnamese people should not share and support. The contribution of 300,000 VND is my heartfelt wish to Cuba, hoping that our people will have the confidence to overcome difficulties,” Mr. Thanh shared.

Not only supporting Cuba through money transfer, Mr. Thanh also posted this meaningful activity on his personal website, calling on friends and teammates to join in supporting Cuba to spread the activity.

Mr. Nguyen Thua Chau and the employees of Hang Chau Gold and Silver Company Limited (Cam Xuyen commune) unanimously support Cuba.

As for veteran Nguyen Thua Chau - Director of Hang Chau Gold and Silver Company Limited (Cam Xuyen commune), right after hearing about the call for support for Cuba on TV, Mr. Chau talked to his wife and children and the whole family unanimously transferred 5 million VND in support. Mr. Chau shared: “The Vietnam - Cuba relationship is not only friendship, but also blood brotherhood and affection, so supporting Cuba is a very good thing to do. I also told stories about the Vietnam - Cuba relationship to the employees and I am happy that they also have the same spirit of support. Some people donate 200 thousand, 100 thousand, 500 thousand... but everyone is happy to share”.

On social networking sites, from groups, organizations...

...to individuals in Ha Tinh, all share the same spirit of supporting Cuba.

Not only the people who have gone through the war, most of the people and the young generation in Ha Tinh are actively joining hands to support Cuba. Mr. Nguyen Van Lan - a member of the Youth Union of Thanh Sen Ward learned about the campaign to support Cuba through a post on Facebook. "I transferred 100,000 VND. Then, I shared the information, posted it on my personal Facebook with information about Cuba. After just one day, I saw at least 5 of my friends also started sharing information and supporting. I believe that small but widespread actions will have great power" - Mr. Lan shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung in Cam Due commune is willing to contribute funds to support Cuba.

Working all year round in her garden and rice fields, with a small income, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung in Cam Due commune still sets aside a small amount to contribute to the fund to support Cuba. Ms. Dung shared: “Cuba has helped Vietnam in many ways, now that they are in difficulty, we have to take responsibility. My neighbors and I tell each other to help as much as we can. The key is the heart.”

Together with all classes of people in the province, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and implementing the instructions of the superiors, the Red Cross Society of Ha Tinh province has just launched a program to mobilize support for the Cuban people on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (1960 - 2025) through the association's account number. The provincial Red Cross Society will summarize and transfer all the donations to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society to transfer to the Cuban people to ensure the proposed plan.

This is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of international solidarity and humanity of Ha Tinh people in the locality and across the country”.

The movement to support Cuba in Ha Tinh not only demonstrates a sense of responsibility and noble international sentiment, but also demonstrates the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.
