As the convoy carrying the remains of fallen soldiers moved from Cau Treo International Border Gate to Nam National Martyrs Cemetery, thousands of people, union members, and students in Ha Tinh brought flags and flowers to welcome the heroes back to their homeland.

On the afternoon of May 22nd, after completing the ceremony of receiving and offering incense to the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the Lao People's Democratic Republic at the Cau Treo International Border Gate, the convoy of vehicles collecting the remains moved to the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery in Son Chau commune, Huong Son district.
The Vietnamese national flag and the flag of the Lao People's Democratic Republic were displayed by local authorities along the road leading from the Cau Treo International Border Gate to the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery, symbolizing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
As the convoy carrying the remains of fallen soldiers traveled along National Highway 8, thousands of people, including citizens, youth union members, and students, lined both sides of the road, carrying flags and flowers, to welcome the heroic martyrs back to their beloved homeland after many years lying in neighboring Laos.
Despite the hot weather, people, youth union members, and students in Huong Son district arrived early, standing neatly on both sides of National Highway 8 to welcome the convoy carrying the remains of fallen soldiers. This is a meaningful act by the people of Ha Tinh to remember and express gratitude to the heroic martyrs who bravely sacrificed themselves for the noble international mission.
During the journey to transport the remains of fallen soldiers to the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery, the convoy stopped in Tay Son town for about 30 minutes and organized a ceremony for officials, Party members, and the people to offer incense and pay respects to the martyrs.

Along with the local people and students, a large number of soldiers from the armed forces of Huong Son district also welcomed the fallen soldiers back to their homeland.

At approximately 4:30 PM on May 22nd, the remains of the martyrs were moved to the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery. On the evening of May 22nd, the People's Committee of Huong Son District, in coordination with the Provincial Youth Union, the Executive Board of the Huong Son Buddhist Association, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Provincial Military Command, organized a memorial service for the 10 martyrs at the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery.
On the morning of May 23rd, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Tinh province will solemnly hold a memorial service and burial ceremony for 10 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in the Lao People's Democratic Republic at the Nam National Martyrs' Cemetery.
With close coordination between the Steering Committee 515 of Ha Tinh province and the Special Task Force of the provinces of Laos, from 1999 to the dry season of 2022-2023, the Remains Recovery Team of the Provincial Military Command, with the dedicated support and assistance of the Party committees, authorities at all levels and the people of Laos, has searched for and recovered 810 remains of martyrs. During the 2022-2023 dry season, the Search and Recovery Team searched for and processed 35 pieces of information related to 90 graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos. Through this effort, the team recovered the remains of 10 fallen soldiers in Bolikhamsai province and Vientiane capital. The names of all the fallen soldiers remain unknown. |
