Recently, many households have had standard sanitation and clean water facilities, improving their quality of life thanks to the Rural Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Loan Program effectively implemented by the Ea Kar Social Policy Bank Transaction Office.
Thanks to a loan of 50 million VND from the program in early June 2025, Ms. H'Lem Mlo's family in Suk village, Ea Kar commune was able to build a new 15 m2 toilet, meeting environmental sanitation standards, and renovate the family's water well in July 2025.
Similarly, Ms. H'Teo Mlo's household is one of the households in Suk hamlet, Ea Kar commune that received loans from the above program in 2023. Ms. H'Teo said: Previously, because we did not have a well, my family had to ask to share a well with a neighbor more than 200 meters away and use a makeshift toilet. Thanks to the hamlet officials informing me about the above program, in June 2023, I applied for a loan of 40 million VND. This amount of money helped me drill a well more than 40 meters deep and repair my family's toilet.

As for Ms. Hoang Van Chuyen (village 6C, Ea O commune), who is near-poor, due to difficulties, she has not been able to repair her toilet. In April 2024, through the village farmers' association, she was guided through the loan procedures of 20 million VND. From this loan, combined with savings, her family renovated and repaired the old toilet at a cost of more than 40 million VND. According to Ms. Chuyen, the loan interest rate of the program is only approximately 0.75%/month, with a loan term of up to 5 years. This is a favorable condition for her family to work with peace of mind to repay the debt and develop the economy .
Mr. Ngo Trong Thang, Director of the Ea Kar Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, said that the above program was implemented from August 3, 2004 according to Decision No. 62/2004/QD-TTg dated April 16, 2004 of the Prime Minister on credit for implementing the National Strategy on clean water supply and rural environmental sanitation. Currently, the loan amount of the program is 25 million VND/project, maximum 50 million VND/household. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the unit has lent to 766 households, with a total amount of more than 31 billion VND. The total outstanding debt to date is more than 101.9 billion VND (5,638 households borrowed).

"In the coming time, in order for this lending policy to continue to be effective, the unit will proactively coordinate with localities and entrusted organizations to continue to propagate and raise people's awareness of the role of clean water and environmental sanitation. The unit will also actively review and prioritize poor and near-poor households, ensuring that the loan capital is given to the right subjects. In addition, it will strengthen appraisal and timely disbursement, helping households to implement projects on schedule. On the other hand, it will closely monitor and inspect loans, prevent misuse of capital, and improve capital use efficiency," Mr. Ngo Trong Thang added.
