Early this morning (September 13), Apple officially introduced four new generation iPhone models, of which the version that received the most attention was the 15 Pro, priced from 999 USD with 128 GB capacity.
According to analysis by international e-commerce firm Picodi, the average American needs to work 5.3 days to be able to buy this phone model, based on the average annual income here of $61,900.
Interestingly, the above number of working days is slightly lower than the iPhone 14 Pro model launched last year, when US users needed at least 5.7 working days, including taxes.
While the iPhone 15 Pro model may seem “expensive” in the US, in some other countries, the price is more affordable in terms of income. For example, in Switzerland, people only need to spend 4.2 working days to upgrade their Apple phone.
On the contrary, Türkiye is the place that needs the most working days, an average of 123.7 days, to be able to touch the new iPhone model. Next is the representative of the Southeast Asian region - the Philippines, where people have to "plow" 79.5 working days.
Vietnam and India are two countries where people need to work nearly 2 months to have enough money to upgrade their phones, 55.6 and 55.9 days respectively.
Several countries and territories appear in the analysis, including Canada (7.7 days), Iceland (8.4 days), Germany (9.5 days), the United Kingdom (9.9 days), South Korea (10.1 days), France (10.2 days), Japan (12.6 days), Spain (15.5 days), Italy (16.6 days), Taiwan (18.7 days) and China (23.5 days).
The report also shows a new trend in the US, where the number of working days needed to buy an iPhone equivalent to the Pro version has been decreasing over the years.
Since 2018 when Apple launched the iPhone XS, the number of man-days required has increased from 8.4 in 2018, 5.8 in 2019, 6.1 in 2020, 5.9 in 2021, 5.7 in 2022, and now 5.3.
Apple has kept the same price for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15, but the price of the highest version Pro Max has increased by $100, up to $1,199.
However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the lowest storage capacity of 256 GB instead of 128 GB, so it can still be considered that "Apple House" has maintained the same price as last year.
