Google has announced the launch of a new AI feature that lets users virtually try on clothes. The tech giant is also rolling out updated price alerts and teased an upcoming feature that will let users explore shoppable outfits and find inspiration for their room with visuals.

The virtual try-on feature officially launches two months after Google began testing it. It works by allowing users to upload photos of themselves to virtually try on clothes.
The feature, which launches in the US today, lets users try on clothing items in Google Shopping Graph on Search, Google Shopping, and product results on Google Images.
To use the feature, users need to tap on a product listing or garment result and select the “Try it on” icon. They then need to upload a full-body photo. They will be able to see how they would look in the outfit. Users can also save the photo and share it with friends.

While Google has offered virtual try-on technology before, previous features focused on showing products on various models' bodies. With this new feature, the company lets users try on clothes on a virtual version of their own bodies.
The launch comes as Google is investing heavily in virtual fitting. Last month, the tech giant launched a trial app called Doppl, which uses AI to visualize how different outfits will look on you.
A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that while both the new fitting feature and Doppl are powered by the same AI technology, the app is designed to give shoppers a more in-depth virtual fitting experience that can help them shape their personal style.
Furthermore, Doppl can create AI-generated videos so users can get a better idea of how the outfit will look when worn in real life.
With the new price alerts feature, users can now specify how much they’re willing to spend on an item. Starting today, shoppers in the US can set an alert for a product and specify their preferred size, color, and price.

"Shopping Graph has products and prices from all over the web — so we'll notify you when there's a deal that meets your criteria. No more constantly checking to see if that bag you've been eyeing finally got the right price, or forgetting to come back and buy something you love."
As for the upcoming feature for clothing and room design inspiration, Google says users will be able to access it this fall.
The feature will allow users to do things like find style inspiration for a flowy green dress for a garden party or bedroom design ideas.
The tech giant says its visual matching technology will generate a range of visual options for a query and use the 50 billion products in the Shopping Graph to surface product listings for visual matches.
