Many people were "startled" when they discovered sensitive photos still existed on their old iPhones even though they had been deleted.

If this device is sold, given away, or repaired without proper disposal, data may be recovered and disseminated.

Manual deletion only makes the photos disappear from the Library, but they remain in “Recently Deleted” and on iCloud.

To ensure safety, users need to go to iCloud.com to check and delete all remaining copies of photos.

However, the only way to completely erase the data is to Factory Reset the phone.

Before doing so, sign out of iCloud to avoid activation lock, then select “Erase All Content and Settings.”

This process will also erase the data encryption “key”, making it impossible for anyone to recover it even with specialized software.

Security experts confirm that a proper Factory Reset is the only way to return an iPhone to a "sterile" state, completely safe from all risks of personal information leakage.
