Thanks to the decisive involvement of the local government and the unanimous support of the people, the movement to donate land for road construction is spreading strongly, creating momentum for Tan Loi commune to accelerate the progress of key transportation infrastructure projects, opening up expectations for sustainable socio -economic development for the locality.

Whether it's difficult or easy depends on the approach.

For nearly a month now, regardless of the harsh hot weather, members of the Propaganda and Mobilization Team for the land clearance of key transportation projects in Tan Loi commune have been diligently carrying out their assigned tasks. Many even take advantage of Saturdays and Sundays to visit individual households affected by the projects to understand their concerns and aspirations; and to publicly and fully inform them about the policies and regulations, as well as the commune's road construction plans.

Mr. Mai Ha Thanh, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Tan Loi Commune, said: "The biggest challenge here is that many households have land within the project area but do not live in the locality; some households are in the cashew harvesting season, tending to durian trees, etc. The team members have to be flexible with their time to go and educate and persuade the people so that they understand the common work and actively cooperate."

Previously, the leaders of Tan Loi commune also held meetings and dialogues with people whose land was affected by the two projects to discuss the government's investment in road construction, with people voluntarily donating land and trees.

To expedite implementation, the commune has also established two propaganda and mobilization teams, comprising representatives from various departments of the Commune People's Committee and relevant members such as representatives from the People's Council, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, and the management boards of the hamlets where the project passes through. Members of the propaganda teams are tasked with widely disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations regarding the national target program for building new rural areas and developing rural transportation infrastructure, with the motto "The State and the people work together." They provide detailed information on the project scale, land clearance boundaries, and technical design drawings of the road to create high consensus among the people.

To complete the transportation infrastructure system connecting and serving the socio-economic development goals of the locality, Tan Loi commune is investing in two key transportation routes connecting the commune center to the city's main transportation routes. These projects have a total length of 14.5 km, a road width of 32 m, and a total investment of 76 billion VND. To date, people have voluntarily donated over 78,000 of land and thousands of trees and structures on the land to hand over the site for the implementation of the projects.

Public consensus

The project to expand the road from the center of Tan Loi commune connecting to the DT 753 route has a length of 9.2km, a road width of 32m, and a total investment of 41 billion VND. In a short time, thanks to persuasion and mobilization efforts, 36 households voluntarily donated nearly 34,000 of land and many trees and structures on the land to hand over the site, accelerating the project's progress.

As one of the households affected by the project, losing nearly 1 hectare of land along the road, Mr. Trieu Van Thinh's family in Dong Bia hamlet, Tan Loi commune, happily cut down their trees to hand over the land without requiring much persuasion from commune officials.

“I am very pleased with the local government's road construction plan. While the road will cause immediate economic losses for my family, including land and trees, in the long run, it will significantly increase the value of our orchards and fields. Furthermore, improved transportation infrastructure is essential for economic development. My family fully agrees with and supports this project,” Mr. Thinh shared.

It's not just Mr. Thinh; the movement to donate land for road construction has been spreading strongly in Tan Loi commune. Word spread from person to person, and in a short time, hundreds of households have agreed with the initiative. Many households voluntarily donated land, contributing additional resources to help the commune government open up more key transportation projects. Mr. Dinh Van Toan, from Dong Bia hamlet, Tan Loi commune, shared: "Currently, the road passing by my house is too narrow, making travel difficult. When the commune decided to expand the road to 32 meters, everyone was happy."

“Most households whose land and crops are affected by the project have agreed to donate them for road widening. However, for households whose houses are affected, the commune should also consider providing appropriate support. In reality, the people here mainly work in agriculture, and their lives are still very difficult,” Mr. Toan expressed his wish.

In sections where residents have agreed to donate land, local authorities are mobilizing permanent militia forces to assist residents in relocating structures and power lines to the designated road corridor, thus handing over the land to the construction contractor for implementation and ensuring the project progresses according to schedule. In sections where the land has been cleared, the contractor is mobilizing machinery and equipment to accelerate construction progress.
