At around 4:00 p.m. on June 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) temporarily put into use a 500m section of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project adjacent to Tan Son Nhat airport area (Ward 13, Tan Binh District).

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department said that the road was put into use to help reduce congestion on route C12 connecting to the intersection of Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh.

People travel on a new road section of the 4,800 billion VND project to "relieve" traffic congestion around Tan Son Nhat airport.

According to Giao thong Newspaper reporters, the contractor is busy installing flashing lights on the lane divider barriers after closing a part of the existing C12 road. Although residents in the area were notified many days ago about the temporary closure of a part of C12 road, they are still quite surprised when they have to take a detour.

During the first two hours of closing C12 Road to temporarily put into use 500m of new road, dozens of shippers had to ask workers on the route for directions. The newly put into temporary use road is very close to Tan Son Nhat airport beltway. From here, passersby can clearly see the plane taking off.

The road project connecting Tran Quoc Hoan Street to Cong Hoa Street has a total investment of 4,800 billion VND, starting at the end of 2022, expected to be completed at the end of 2024. The route passing through Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal (under construction) is expected to reduce traffic congestion because Cong Hoa Street has been overloaded for many years.

The end point of the route connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa is a "matrix" of traffic jams every day during rush hour.

After the new road was temporarily opened to traffic, traffic density on Cong Hoa Street has decreased.

Many people traveling on the new road were quite surprised because they thought they would only be able to travel on this route at the end of the year.

Currently, some households have not yet handed over the land, causing the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project to be interrupted. The Compensation and Site Clearance Board of Tan Binh District said that it is expected to hand over the land to the investor in July 2024 so that the project can be completed this year.
