Currently, car tires are classified into directional tires (one-way tires), asymmetric tires and symmetric tires based on the tire tread arrangement. Accordingly, car tires are a very important part as they are the only thing in contact with the road surface, but even experienced drivers know that tire tread design also has a significant impact on the driving experience.
When checking, if the user sees the word "Rotation" or "Direction" written on the sidewall, this is a sign of a directional tire. In addition, there is a small arrow pointing forward of the tire (rolling direction), which is a mandatory requirement for the tire to be installed in a certain rotation direction.
If you don't see the words "Rotation" or "Direction" but you do see the words "Inside" and "Outside" printed on the sidewall, then you have an asymmetric tire. An asymmetric tire will have completely different tread patterns on the inside and outside of the tire, and each side of the tire is optimized for its own task.
Therefore, when installing directional tires, each pair of tires is designed to be installed on either the right or left side of the vehicle. This means one pair is for the driver's side, the other pair is for the passenger side.
If the directional tire is installed in the wrong direction, this not only reduces the tire's performance, making it less grippy and increasing the risk of hydroplaning, but also reduces tire life and makes the vehicle noisier when driving.
Experienced drivers need to pay special attention when rotating tires, because this type of tire only allows for front and rear rotation, not left and right rotation. Therefore, the tire installation and replacement process must be done carefully, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
When rotating tires, users notice that the left and right wheels have different tread patterns, one wheel facing inward and the other facing outward, which is completely normal. It is important that car users pay special attention to installing them correctly, the word "Outside" must always be on the outside and the word "Inside" must be on the inside, otherwise the tires will not be able to function properly. At the same time, the disadvantage of this type of tire is that it is impossible to rotate the tires inside and out to ensure even tire wear as in the case of symmetrical tires.
