Meta has officially launched WhatsApp for iPad, which is now available for download in the App Store today. This means it has taken 15 years for the app to come to iPad, after it was released in 2009 and the first iPad was introduced in 2010.

WhatsApp on iPad supports most of the same features as the iPhone version. Users can join audio and video calls with up to 32 people, use both the device's front and rear cameras, and share their screen with call participants.

The version is compatible with iPadOS features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, which allow for side-by-side operation between apps. Users can view messages in split-screen mode, while browsing the web or watching videos.

This makes better use of the iPad's large screen for multitasking, instead of having to constantly switch between apps like on mobile devices with smaller screens.

WhatsApp is also compatible with the Magic Keyboard, Apple Pencil, and still maintains good security.

This is one of the most requested apps from iPad users. Before this version was released, if you wanted to use WhatsApp on a larger screen, you were forced to run the web version in a browser.

“Most of my friends are on Android tablets and they can video call on WhatsApp, but I can't join them,” one Reddit user explained the inconvenience of not having an iPad app.

Many users expressed their joy on Reddit, asking for a similar version for Instagram. According to The Verge , Meta is said to be working on this version, optimized for larger screens, but there is no indication of when it will be released.
