In an interview with Sky Sports , the Swiss goalkeeper shared his thoughts on his performance at Giuseppe Meazza. He said: "I am very happy, we played a fantastic game. I will never forget this breathtaking victory."
When asked about his most memorable save of the match, Sommer didn't hesitate to reply: "The last-minute save against Lamine Yamal. He's a fantastic player. I'm so glad the ball didn't go in. Many teams would collapse after being 3-2 down, but we managed to come back."
Despite conceding three goals, Sommer was named "Man of the Match". The Swiss goalkeeper made seven saves, including four diving saves and five saves inside the penalty area.
Yamal's dangerous shots, Eric Garcia's powerful close-range strike, and Raphinha's lightning-fast shot were all blocked by Sommer's superb reflexes.
Across both legs, Sommer made 14 saves, helping Inter Milan compete on equal terms with Barcelona and secure a place in the final. At 36 years old, the former Bayern Munich goalkeeper proved that he is still a world-class goalkeeper.
Inter signed Sommer in the summer of 2023 to replace Andre Onana for a fee of 5 million euros. Italian media considered this a bargain for Inter because Sommer's experience and talent had been proven over the years.
