Le Thi Thuy Vi, 23 years old, is currently a human resources staff at Palm Garden Resort Hoi An. For the past few days, Vi and her colleagues at the resort have spent all their time completing logistics and preparing for the annual scholarship award ceremony at her workplace.
Touching reunion at the scholarship resort
In contrast to the poor, simple image of her father and younger brother who came to receive scholarships, Vi was fresh and neat in the uniform of the dormitory. When greeting guests at the door, Vi always bowed and smiled brightly.
The emotional moment was especially touching when the image of his father and younger brother entered the hall from the yard. Vi stood far away looking at his relatives, then tried to raise his arm as high as possible.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang, owner of Palm Garden Resort Hoi An, proudly introduced her as his special staff.
"Every scholarship award ceremony is a special occasion for the brothers, sisters, and children here. Having organized it for many years, seeing the deep affection from the sponsors for the scholarships, you understand. Everyone tries their best to do their part, so that the program leaves behind good things," said Mr. Sang.
According to Mr. Sang, Le Thi Thuy Vi is currently a human resources employee at the accommodation area. In 2023, after graduating from Danang University of Architecture, Vi applied to Palm Garden.
This dormitory has been hosting new students for decades at scholarship awards ceremonies, serving as a bridge to bring thousands of students to the lecture hall. Vi was also among them, but because there were so many students, Mr. Sang did not know.

When the HR department reported that Vi had completed the interview and was qualified for the job, Mr. Sang met the new employees. When telling the story of his stay, Vi happened to tell Mr. Sang that he had also been to Palm Garden, and that Mr. Sang had also shaken his hand and given him a scholarship of 10 million VND.
"At that time, I was in college but my family couldn't find the money to pay more than 10 million VND. When my father came back from a funeral, he heard the villagers talking about a scholarship program from Tuoi Tre newspaper, so he told me to find out.
I looked up the information online and then registered. Shortly after, someone from the scholarship organization called to ask. Then I was notified to come to the award ceremony. That year, 2019, I received 10 million VND" - Vi said.
Another scholarship blossoms
When he pulled Vi back to introduce her, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang said that stories like Vi's made him and everyone who sponsored the scholarship feel very emotional. The help given to people like Vi in difficult times has "blossomed and borne fruit", at least Vi has finished college, graduated, gone to work and is able to take care of herself.
"Look at Vi now, isn't she different? Very confident, happy, and neat. Back then, I thought she was like you guys now, no one thought she would be different like now, right?" - Mr. Sang said.
Standing in charge of the logistics work in the hall, Le Thi Thuy Vi occasionally glanced over to where her father, Mr. Le Van Truong, and her younger brother, Le Tien Dat, a freshman at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, were sitting. The joy mixed with the sadness was clearly visible in the corner of the HR staff's eyes.

Vi said that in 2019, thanks to a 10 million VND scholarship, she was able to go to school. At that time, Vi's mother had just given birth to a baby, her father had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and her younger brother was in high school. The scholarship at that time was like a branch on the water for Vi to cling to and go to this day.
Recently, when she learned that her younger brother had passed the medical university entrance exam, Vi and her parents were worried because they could not see any money for Le Tien Dat's 6 years of medical career.
Vi just graduated from school so her income is not high yet, her father's illness is getting worse, her younger sibling is just starting first grade, the family burden falls on Vi's mother's monthly salary of 5 million VND as a fish sorting worker.
Once again a lifeline came. Vi's younger brother was informed that he was eligible for the Relay to School scholarship.
A few days before the award ceremony, the whole family was excited and emotional. Not only did they come once to send Vi to university, once again the meaningful scholarships continued to support Vi's younger brother on his journey to conquer his dream.
