Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Xuan Khue Minh lead the 2023 Amateur Golf Championship

On the morning of July 13, the 2023 Men's & Women's Amateur Golf Championship officially kicked off at Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc. The course's terrain has narrow fairways and many traps, creating many challenges for the athletes. The top positions in round 1 belong to Nguyen Anh Minh and Doan Xuan Khue Minh.

Nguyen Anh Minh successfully conquered 18 holes in round 1 when he "took" a score of -5. The athlete born in 2007 started the round with a birdie right at the starting hole. On the women's side, round 1 of the VLAO tournament also witnessed the "battle" for the top spot between Doan Xuan Khue Minh and Mirabel Ting Ern Hui. Doan Xuan Khue Minh started the first day with 2 birdies at holes 12 and 16. At the end of round 1, the 20-year-old athlete brought home an Even Par total with 3 bogeys and 3 birdies, surpassing Mirable and currently holding the leading position.

Mirable Tinh Ern Hui is close behind Khue Minh with a +1 score. The Malaysian athlete made 2 bogeys and scored 3 birdies, ranking 2nd after today's competition. Ranked 3rd and 4th are Maisarah Binti Muhanmad Hezri with 2 strokes and Nur Ain Qistina Abdullah with 4 strokes.
