Late on May 21, Nguyen Filip and Hanoi Police could not touch the Shoppe Cup championship (Southeast Asian Club Championship) when they lost to Buriram United in a cruel penalty shootout with a score of 2-3 (3-3 draw in 120 minutes).

The two teams drew 2-2 in the first leg at Hang Day Stadium and continued to draw 3-3 after 120 minutes in the second leg. Notably, the Vietnamese representative led 2-0 in the first half but then let the opponent equalize and was forced to chase each other to take each other to the penalty shootout.

Hanoi Police was the team that proved to be more unlucky when they missed 3 shots and accepted a 2-3 loss on penalties. This result made Quang Hai and his teammates sadly watch their opponents lift the Shopee Cup championship.

For losing the championship, goalkeeper Nguyen Filip of Hanoi Police apologized to the fans.

“I would like to apologise to everyone for not being able to bring the trophy home. Football can be cruel at times – but it will still be a valuable experience for the whole team.

Thank you to the Vietnamese hearts that have always accompanied and cheered for us," the goalkeeper born in 1992 wrote on his personal Facebook page.

The national team goalkeeper had a truly brilliant day. In the second half, he continuously made incredible saves. In the 59th minute, Nguyen Filip dived to catch Crispim's shot in the penalty area. Then, this goalkeeper had a miraculous reflex to block Boakye's header in the 74th minute.

Entering extra time, the Hanoi Police goalkeeper also had many saves, especially the one to block Bissoli's dangerous long-range shot.

The goalkeeper born in 1992 also left his mark when he successfully blocked two shots from Boakye and Dougall of Buriram in the penalty shootout.

Although he could not help his team win the championship, Nguyen Filip's performance still deserves praise and recognition.
