After the failure of the French colonialists' plot to reoccupy Indochina, the US imperialists, with their ambitions for global hegemony, directly intervened and gradually intensified the war of aggression in southern Vietnam.
With the neo-colonial policy, generations of US Presidents not only built a puppet government system but also devoted all their armed forces, organized reactionary forces, intensified the suppression of revolutionary movements, and turned the South into an anti-communist outpost in Southeast Asia. However, all their plots and strategies were met with the strength of national unity, the fervent patriotism, and the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people.
It was in that context that the resistance war against the US to save the country strongly transformed from a defensive position to an active offensive position. From isolated political struggles, the Dong Khoi movement broke out, initiating the birth and growth of the revolutionary armed forces. The three prongs of politics, military, and soldier agitation were flexibly and effectively applied, gradually weakening the puppet regime system, exhausting the enemy's strength, creating the premise for general offensives and uprisings, culminating in the historic spring of 1975.
“On the US Presidents in the War of Aggression in Vietnam” is a book that crystallizes a lifetime of experience, research and attachment to the national history of author Nguyen Phuong Nam - a veteran revolutionary cadre, who lived, fought and recorded historical marks right in the heart of the war.
