Musician Nguyen Van Hien was born in 1953 in Binh Dinh. After graduating from the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, he was retained to work as a specialist in the political affairs department. Musician Nguyen Van Hien also graduated from the composition department of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in 1993.

Besides his passion for melodies, musician Nguyen Van Hien also works as an MC. Occasionally, he writes for newspapers under the name Thien Hang (a play on words... Thang Hien).
