Multiply acts of kindness

Việt NamViệt Nam07/12/2024

Our lives are filled with many precious and beautiful things, and one of them is human compassion. These individuals may be ordinary people, but their noble deeds contribute to the community by sharing with the poor and needy, helping them rise above their circumstances. Each small act, each meaningful gesture from each person, resonates and multiplies the good things, allowing love and compassion to flourish in life.

Actions from the heart

"With a spirit of mutual support and compassion, a little help in times of need is worth more than abundance in times of plenty, reflecting the spirit of the people of the homeland of King Hung, I sincerely hope that the members of the Hung Vuong High School group, class of 2000-2003, will join hands to help the people of Phu Tho who are facing difficulties and hardships during the recent floods, on a voluntary basis. Those who can contribute much should contribute much, those who can contribute little should contribute little; all contributions are greatly appreciated." (Excerpt from a sharing on the Hung Vuong High School group, class of 2000-2003).

With just one text message, over a dozen days later, hundreds of supporters joined the group, from those currently living and working in Phu Tho to those living and working thousands of kilometers away, all united in their love for their homeland. A detailed charity plan was developed, outlining a journey to bring love back to their hometown.

Nearly 110 million VND in cash, 1.3 tons of rice, along with many essential necessities, notebooks, school supplies, and clothing were handed over to people in Ha Hoa district by the students of Hung Vuong Specialized High School, graduating class of 2000-2003. These gifts were a timely contribution to helping the people overcome the difficulties caused by Typhoon Yagi .

The alumni association of Hung Vuong Specialized High School, graduating class of 2000-2003, provided personal accident insurance cards to all students of Dan Thuong 1 Primary School, Ha Hoa district.

Sharing her thoughts on this "spontaneous" charity trip, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, a former student of the 2000-2003 graduating class of Hung Vuong Specialized High School, said: "The trip was planned in record time, and I didn't think the members of my graduating class would support this idea so quickly. The tasks of connecting with local authorities, transporting rice, books, notebooks, and clothes were also supported by many benefactors. Even on the day of the activity, there were many unforeseen issues that arose during the gift-giving process, and the members of the group directly assisted in resolving them. I am truly happy to have been able to carry out such a meaningful program for my hometown with my friends."

Starting from the activities of members working in the hair industry in Doan Hung district, who organized free haircuts for patients at hospitals and social welfare centers in the province since 2014, gradually, with the desire to share love with those in society, the members became more diverse in background and activities were organized in many fields. In September 2021, the Doan Hung Loving Volunteer Club (also known as the Doan Hung Loving Charity Club) was officially established with 28 members.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hoang, the club's chairman, said: "The club members came together out of love, a desire to participate in humanitarian and charitable activities, and a spirit of volunteerism. Currently, we continue to maintain the activities from the very beginning, such as the free haircut program. In addition, members regularly connect and organize many meaningful humanitarian and charitable activities, bringing joy and happiness to poor families, patients in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, and vulnerable people in the community... Besides the activities organized in the province, we have also organized fundraising and donated gifts to people in flood-affected areas in Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Tuyen Quang with a total value of approximately 500 million VND."

Although each member has different jobs, whenever a difficult situation arises or a case requiring help is shared, everyone tries to provide support and connect with philanthropists to promptly deliver love and help them overcome immediate difficulties.

Spread love

The Thanh Thuy Volunteer Group was established in 2017. This was after a group of friends participated in a relief program in Muong La, Son La province. They discussed and decided to form a volunteer group to organize more humanitarian and charitable programs on a larger scale, with better organization and more thorough planning. After 7 years of operation, starting with 10 members, the group now has 160 members.

Mr. Bui Anh Duy, Deputy Head of the Thanh Thuy Volunteer Group, said: “Not only has the number of volunteers increased, but the group's activities have also diversified across more areas. Currently, the volunteer group maintains a program providing free meals to patients in difficult circumstances at the Thanh Thuy District Medical Center. On anniversaries, holidays, and during the Lunar New Year, the group organizes visits and gift-giving to war veterans, disabled soldiers, families of policy beneficiaries, victims of Agent Orange, and poor households. At the beginning of each school year, the group organizes scholarship awards for disadvantaged students and children of policy beneficiary families. With many activities maintained over the years, we have now connected with many philanthropists to accompany the group in its charitable activities.”

Sharing their future plans, the members of the Thanh Thuy Volunteer Group all hope that each person will continue to maintain their passion for volunteer work, uniting together to regularly raise funds to build houses of compassion for families of war heroes and single-parent households. Each member strives to create more meaningful volunteer programs, spreading love to many people.

The Doan Hung Charity Club lovingly donated money to support the construction of a charitable house for the family of Mr. Cao Hai Tuyen in Tieu Son commune, Doan Hung district.

Despite his busy business schedule, Mr. Nguyen Tien Luong, Vice Chairman of the Doan Hung Love Charity Club, always makes time to participate in activities. He shared: “Although we have only been officially operating for three years, we have many supporters. To gain that trust, all of our group's activities are open and transparent. For difficult cases, the club assigns members to survey the target group and contact local authorities to verify their circumstances. The club also regularly cooperates with the Red Cross to jointly assist vulnerable people in the province and other localities. After each program, we summarize and announce the results through various information channels. With each trip, each journey, I feel the positive energy that I and the club members have received and appreciated from the recipients. That is the joy and motivation for us to continue our journey of spreading love.”

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hong - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Doan Hung district, said: “Through practical actions imbued with human compassion, the Red Cross Society of the district, acting as a bridge, has connected tens of thousands of hearts filled with sharing and charity, multiplying acts of kindness and beautifying the image of humanity. The meaningful actions of organizations, individuals, and philanthropists in recent times for vulnerable people in society have actively contributed to reviving the traditional spirit of "mutual support" of our nation. In particular, the activities of Red Cross volunteer clubs, teams, and groups have demonstrated their core, active, and pioneering role in implementing humanitarian activities; serving as a reliable bridge between organizations, individuals, and philanthropists and those in difficult circumstances.”

From the shining examples and kind deeds of individuals and organizations, the message of compassion has spread powerfully throughout the community. It can be seen that beautiful acts of kindness and people who live for the community are considered "seeds" of humanity, nurturing and cultivating a more loving, happy, and better society. And certainly, in today's life, there are still many kind hearts silently beautifying the world with love and sharing, contributing alongside local authorities to effectively implement social welfare programs, achieve sustainable poverty reduction, and improve the quality of life for the people.
