Quickly remove malicious extensions on Chrome

Recently, 34 extensions for Chrome browser were found to contain malicious code. It is estimated that up to 87 million users are affected.

These malicious utilities were discovered by Wladimir Palant, a security researcher, and have been confirmed by security firm Avast.

Accordingly, Wladimir Palant discovered up to 34 extensions for the Chrome browser containing malicious code, allowing hackers to steal personal information.

These malicious codes are inserted into extensions with functions such as blocking ads on the browser, managing open tabs or changing the Chrome interface... making users unaware and install them into their Chrome browser.

Wladimir Palant said these types of malware allow hackers to steal online accounts that users access using the Chrome browser, or can redirect users to fraudulent websites to steal their information…

However, these malware only attack Windows operating systems, and Chrome browser users on Mac or Linux computers will not be affected.

When these malwares were discovered, there were a total of more than 87 million installations from the Chrome browser extension store. This means that 87 million Chrome users who have installed these types of malwares are at risk of being attacked by hackers.
