Import of completely built-up cars increased by nearly 3,400 vehicles

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs ( Ministry of Finance ), in May, the number of imported cars of all types registered for customs declaration increased by 29.2% (equivalent to 3,376 cars) compared to the import volume of the previous month.

The volume of imported complete cars of all kinds in May reached 14,941 vehicles, equivalent to a value of 311 million USD.

Specifically, the import volume of completely built-up cars of all kinds in May reached 14,941 vehicles, equivalent to a value of 311 million USD.

Meanwhile, the General Department of Customs recorded 11,565 imported complete automobiles of all kinds last month, with a value of 256 million USD.

In May, all types of completely built-up cars registered for customs procedures imported into Vietnam mainly originated from three main markets: Indonesia, Thailand and China.

The number of imported cars from Indonesia was 6,333; from Thailand 5,089 and from China 3,051. The number of imported cars from these 3 markets reached 14,473, accounting for 97% of the total number of imported cars into Vietnam.

In May, 11,964 cars with 9 seats or less were imported into Vietnam with a value of 198 million USD, accounting for 80.1% of the total imported cars of all types. With this result, the number of cars with 9 seats or less imported into Vietnam in the month increased by 36.4% (equivalent to 3,193 cars) compared to the previous month.

Of which, the number of vehicles registered for import declarations was mainly at the border gate and port area of Ho Chi Minh City with 6,262 vehicles, up 50.2% and Hai Phong with 4,694 vehicles, up 8.4% compared to the previous month.

In the first 5 months of 2024, the number of imported complete cars of all types to Vietnam was 58,716 vehicles, down 5.2% over the same period last year. Of which, 9-seat or less cars were 47,390 units, down 3.8% and transport cars were 4,343 units, down sharply 53.1%...
