On the afternoon of December 3, a section of Nguyen Cong Tru Street between the intersections of Ngo Quyen and Tran Hung Dao ( Da Nang City) suddenly collapsed after a loud explosion. The roadbed and sidewalk collapsed, creating a deep hole about 7m wide and nearly 20m long.

Locals said that at the time of the incident, many cars were parked and some workers were moving near the construction area. Two cars were pulled down into the hole, another car got stuck on the edge of the hole. A worker passing by was stuck under the car and had to be pulled out by the rescue team using a crane and taken to the hospital for examination.

According to local residents, cracks appeared on the road surface several days ago. The area where the subsidence occurred is next to a project under construction for the basement.

An Hai ward leaders confirmed the above information, there have been no recorded casualties. Authorities have blocked off the entire road, dispatched machinery to initially handle the situation and relocate the damaged vehicle.

The damaged vehicles have been pulled up and the collapsed area continues to be blocked off to ensure safety and to investigate the cause.
