According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health , patient TVT (born in 1956, residing in Phong Nien commune, Bao Thang district (Lao Cai province) was recently hospitalized in a state of severe difficulty breathing and unable to speak.
Through investigation, doctors learned that while taking the tablet, the patient accidentally took a pill that had not been opened.

Doctors determined that the pill had passed through the glottis and lodged in the trachea, making it difficult for the patient to breathe and speak. Therefore, the patient was transferred to a doctor for a tracheal endoscopy to remove the foreign object.
The endoscopy team removed the foreign object, a pill still in its plastic wrapper (the pill had not been separated from the blister pack) measuring 1.1 x 1.2 cm.
Because the original plastic pill has sharp edges, it caused many difficulties during the examination and removal process.
Then, on October 3, the technical team of Lao Cai General Hospital successfully removed a foreign object, a piece of bone, deep in the 8th bronchiole of the right lung for patient NTH residing in Tong Sanh commune, Bat Xat district (Lao Cai province).
The patient was being treated for pneumonia at the Department of Ear - Nose - Throat of Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital. During endoscopy, the doctor discovered a piece of bone deep in the bronchiole.
Patient NTH said that about 4 years ago, he got a fish bone stuck in his throat. After that, he had an endoscopy but found nothing unusual.
This time, the treatment at the provincial general hospital discovered and removed the foreign object, so I feel much more comfortable.
Doctor Pham Thi Trang, Department of Intensive Care, Lao Cai General Hospital said that the laryngoscopy technique does not leave any complications, avoiding a tracheostomy or having to transfer the patient to a higher level.
Help patients recover quickly, at the same time, recommend people not to take many pills at once and especially pay attention to remove all pills from the shell, should not talk while taking medicine or eating or drinking.
In case the patient suspects choking or swallowing any foreign object, they should immediately go to a medical facility to avoid serious complications. The longer the foreign object remains in the body, the more serious the complications will be.
