Nowadays, many families often have the habit of using homemade wine with the desire to treat diseases or restore vitality to the body. With word of mouth knowledge, indiscriminately soaking plants, tubers, animals, etc., many mistakes when using wine have caused many people to receive unfortunate consequences.
Nowadays, there are many different types of homemade wine through word of mouth and folk experience. However, the types of animals or plants that are soaked are all based on word of mouth and self-use, not according to any scientific method.

Accordingly, plants or animals when soaked in alcohol have risks that affect health. In addition to plants, soaking animals such as snakes, geckos, ants, bees, deer, etc. can cause risks because of the types of organisms and bacteria that live in natural animals.
In the current market, many types of tubers, plants, and animals used for the purpose of soaking wine are being spread by word of mouth and are selling very well. In addition, many people also soak various types of finished wine to sell. With these types of wine, the origin and types of soaked items are not verified, which can easily lead to risks in use.
Pre-soaked wines are sold widely in online groups.
Recently, on April 4-5, Mr. Phan Van C. (born in 1961, residing in Tro village, Phu Luu commune, Ham Yen district) and Mr. Phan Van Ch. (born in 1967, residing in Thuoc Ha village 3, Tan Thanh commune, Ham Yen district) died after drinking the same bottle of homemade medicinal wine. It is worth mentioning that in the past, there have been many cases of death after using homemade medicinal wine, however, many people are still very subjective and use it indiscriminately.
According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen - Director of the Anti-Poison Center, Bach Mai Hospital, people should not arbitrarily soak according to advice but must have a doctor's prescription if soaking in alcohol to treat diseases.

Doctor Nguyen said, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health , the cause of poisoning from white wine of unknown origin accounts for about 42%, wine soaked with medicinal plants accounts for about 36%, wine soaked with animals and organs accounts for about 10%.
“When using infused wine, you need to know its origin and drink in moderation. Abusing alcohol in any form can be harmful to your health,” Dr. Nguyen warned.
Ms. Luong Thi Huong, a store owner selling Northwestern medicinal herbs, said: "Plants and animals soaked in alcohol all have effects and harms, so some types can be used to cure diseases in one way, but when used in another way, they become harmful. For example, centipede soaked in alcohol can be used to treat rheumatism if applied to the skin, but when drunk, it is toxic."
Soaking wine incorrectly can affect health and even threaten life. Worryingly, due to lack of knowledge about soaking medicinal wine, many people think that the more types of wine they soak together, the more effective it will be. This is completely wrong because among the types of wine used together, there may be some that are incompatible with each other, so when soaked together, they will produce toxins, causing harm to health.
Therefore, when there is a need to use medicinal wine, users should buy medicinal herbs at reputable medicinal facilities and need to consult a traditional medicine practitioner beforehand.
