Many university presidents are candidates for professor and associate professor in 2025.

The State Council of Professors announced the list of candidates proposed by the Basic Council of Professors to be considered for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025.

This year's list includes 933 candidates proposed for consideration for recognition of the titles of professor and associate professor. Of these, 89 are professor candidates and 844 are associate professor candidates in various fields/interdisciplinary fields. Compared to 2024, the number of candidates this year increased sharply from 673 to 933, an increase of 260 people (nearly 40%).

Among these, there are many candidates who are presidents of universities across the country.

Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi , Principal of School of Business and Administration, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, candidate for professor of Economics .

Mr. Phi graduated in 1969 with a degree in General Law from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi; a major in Russian from the Military Foreign Language University; a major in English from the University of Foreign Languages; a master's degree in Technology Management and International Business from the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand); a doctorate from the University of Commerce.

He has published 44 scientific articles, including 9 in prestigious international journals.

Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Principal of Hanoi University of Industry, candidate for professorship in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc was born in 1976. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Hanoi University of Science and Technology; a master's degree in Information Processing and Communications from Hanoi University of Science and Technology; and a doctorate in Electronics and Telecommunications from Ulsan University (Korea).

Mr. Kieu Xuan Thuc has been the Rector of Hanoi University of Industry since 2023. Before that, he was the Vice Rector, Head of Training Department, and Lecturer at this university. This candidate has published 39 scientific articles, including 22 in prestigious international journals.

Dr. Nguyen Van Khoat, Principal of Hanoi University of Procuracy, candidate for Associate Professor of Law. He graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities; a Master of Law from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law; a Doctor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure from the Academy of Social Sciences.

Mr. Khoat has published 22 scientific articles, published 7 books, and guided 8 students to successfully defend their master's theses.

Dr. Le Thi Thuy , Principal of Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, candidate for Associate Professor of Medicine. Ms. Thuy was born in 1973, graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Master's and PhD in Biochemistry from Hanoi Medical University. She has published 50 scientific articles, including 11 in prestigious international journals.

Associate Professor Dr. Ta Van Loi , Principal of the School of Business, National Economics University, candidate for professor of International Business. Mr. Loi was appointed principal in July 2024 when the school was established under a new model. He was previously Vice Principal and participated in many research projects on the business environment.

He has published 86 scientific articles, of which 20 are in prestigious international journals listed in ISI/Scopus; and has been granted 2 patents for inventions and utility solutions.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung , Rector of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, candidate for professor of Economics. Mr. Trung was born in 1979, has more than 90 scientific publications and many monographs, and was appointed rector in 2023. This candidate has guided 9 doctoral students to successfully defend their theses, published 91 scientific articles, including 18 scientific articles in prestigious international journals, and published 12 books.

Dr. Tran Trong Dao , President of Ton Duc Thang University, candidate for associate professor in the field of electricity and electronics. Mr. Dao, born in 1981, currently owns more than 13 international articles in the past 18 months alone, and has held the position of president since 2021.

Dr. Lam Thanh Hien , Principal of Lac Hong University, candidate for Associate Professor of Information Technology. Mr. Hien was born in 1970 and was Vice Principal before being officially appointed Principal in 2021. In the first half of 2025 alone, he published 8 international articles. Mr. Hien has published 44 scientific articles, of which 13 are in prestigious international journals.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Huy , Principal of the University of Economics, University of Danang, candidate for professor of Economics, was appointed principal from 2020. He has many works in the fields of digital marketing and information systems.

Dr. Pham Dinh Trung, Principal of Yersin University, Dalat, candidate for Associate Professor in the field of Mechanics - Dynamics, has many studies on the application of artificial intelligence in design and manufacturing. Mr. Trung has published 21 scientific articles, including 5 scientific articles in prestigious international journals; was granted 1 exclusive patent for a useful solution (method for detecting defects in glass bottle bodies) by the Intellectual Property Office in June 2025.
