On the evening of October 1, speaking with Dan Viet reporter , the leader of Thanh Oai District General Hospital, Hanoi , said that currently, 3 students from Binh Minh Secondary School suspected of poisoning after drinking free soft drinks have been discharged from the hospital, 10 students are still being treated and monitored at the Infectious Diseases Department.
According to this leader, the professional agency is currently clarifying the cause of the incident, however the initial diagnosis is food poisoning.

Yesterday afternoon, the students were admitted to the hospital with headaches, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting, suspected to be due to food poisoning. Doctors administered IV fluids and supplemented medicine to improve the patients’ condition. Currently, the patients’ health is stable.
Regarding this incident, on the same morning, the Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Department quickly reported the results of the investigation and monitoring of the food safety incident in Thanh Oai district.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of September 30, at the gate of Binh Minh Secondary School (Binh Minh Commune, Thanh Oai District), a group of strangers distributed free Boncha Honey Tea with peach oolong flavor to students.
263 students drank this product. After drinking, many students had symptoms of stomachache and nausea, 13 students with more severe poisoning symptoms were taken to Thanh Oai General Hospital for treatment.
Hanoi Food Safety Department has coordinated with relevant units to investigate, monitor and verify the cause of the incident.

The results of the investigation of related foods showed that the products the students used were Boncha honey tea with peach oolong flavor, volume 450ml, on the product label there is information: Product of Uniben Joint Stock Company, address in Vietnam - Singapore II - A Industrial Park, Tan Uyen City, Binh Duong Province; self-declared number: 01/UNIBEN/2024 in accordance with QCVN 6-2:2010/BYT.
There is also a soft drink product with pink guava and passion fruit flavor, 450ml volume, product of a limited liability company located in the industrial park in Thuan An city, Binh Duong province.
By 6:30 p.m. on September 30, authorities had collected 234 bottles of Boncha honey tea with peach oolong flavor and 2 bottles of pink guava and passion fruit flavored water, of which 98 bottles had been used and 136 bottles remained unused.
The district's interdisciplinary inspection team has sealed and handed over the products to the district police. At the same time, they took two samples of the above products and sent them to the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene for testing, but the results are not yet available.
Hanoi Food Safety Department requires to step up propaganda for the community and students not to use food products of unknown origin.
Thanh Oai district authorities went to the school to investigate, examine and classify the health of the students, and found 25 students showing signs of suspected poisoning. They took samples of the soft drinks and sent them for testing. The hospital also took samples for testing, but the results are not yet available.
The education sector recommends that local schools and parents educate their children not to eat snacks outside the school gate and absolutely not to accept food from strangers.
