The item people buy a lot is brooms for cleaning up after floods. |
Since early morning of October 10, some food service businesses on Bac Kan and Duong Tu Minh streets have resumed operations after days of struggling with floods. Many grocery stores have also opened to provide essential goods to people.
Currently, the items that are selling quite well are cleaning supplies such as hoes, shovels, rakes, bamboo brooms, plastic brooms, etc. In addition, many people have also gone to grocery stores to buy bottled water in large quantities due to the prolonged dehydration.
Storm No. 11 "swept" through, causing heavy damage to small traders in some central wards of the province, many goods were submerged by the "great flood". However, right after the water receded, many small traders still tried to clean up and resume business.
Ms. Duong Thi Kim Tuyen, owner of a grocery store on Nong Lam dike road, said: “Although we had placed our goods high, the river water rose so quickly that we were unable to react in time. However, I still tried to clean up and get ready to resume operations.”
At Thai Market, many traders have also resumed operations, mainly trading in groups of products such as rice, meat, green vegetables, etc. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, a trader at Thai Market, said: Although the locality is mobilizing all resources to clean up the market area, mud and garbage are still everywhere. Therefore, our business activities are still facing difficulties.
Many businesses and small traders have urgently cleaned up, sanitized the environment and repaired damage caused by floods to quickly return to business. Some essential goods supply points, food stores... in Phan Dinh Phung, Quan Trieu, Linh Son wards - places that were cut off and isolated by floodwaters in recent days, have reopened to serve customers, helping the market to stabilize soon.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung, owner of a grocery store on Bac Kan Street, said: The water has receded, but dealing with the consequences is what is causing difficulties for small traders like us.
Many places have no electricity, so fresh produce businesses cannot resume operations. Many areas are still suffering from water shortages, so food service businesses cannot operate either.
Although business activities are gradually recovering, people expect all levels and sectors to strengthen management and prevent the situation of taking advantage of shortages to increase prices, trading in poor quality goods, counterfeit goods, etc.
The Thai Nguyen government and people are still trying to recover day by day after the flood. The return of small traders will contribute to stabilizing the market and ensuring people's lives.
