At Xeo Can Pagoda in Vinh Hoa commune, from early morning, people gathered around the pagoda grounds and the canal in front to watch the mini-boat race with the participation of 10 teams from neighboring villages and hamlets.

When the starting signal sounded, the boats sped across the water, their oars striking a rapid, synchronized rhythm. On both banks, cheers erupted, creating a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of large-scale traditional boat racing festivals.

Besides boat racing, many familiar folk games also take place in the temple courtyard. The bok on kun game (spinning top) attracts a large number of participants, especially young people. The decisive throws and agile dodges delight the spectators. Interspersed are sack races, tug-of-war, and handkerchief throwing, which take place continuously, creating a cheerful atmosphere.

Sports activities and folk games during Tet contribute to enriching the spiritual life and preserving and transmitting the traditional cultural values of the Khmer people. Amidst modern life, these simple games still retain their appeal, contributing to the unique identity of Chol Chnam Thmay Tet in An Giang.
