Due to the impact of storm No. 10, many households in Ha Giang 2 Ward, Tuyen Quang Province were flooded up to the first floor. On October 2, when the water receded, it left a thick layer of black mud on the ground. Many objects in the house were also dirty and sticky.
Mrs. Dinh Thi Binh's family in Cau Trau hamlet, group 22, Ha Giang 2 ward, had only 3 mothers and children at home. Seeing that all 3 were women, while cleaning the mud out of the house required a lot of strength from young people, 3 Colombian tourists staying at a homestay nearby, ran over and offered to help.

"Seeing people lifting things up to scrape the mud, the group of tourists proactively came to help. They observed how we handled the mud and dirt and followed suit," Ms. Binh's daughter shared.
Cleaning up the mess was no easy task. The young foreigners rolled up their pants, took off their shirts, donned gloves, and got to work quickly. The group did not hesitate to do heavy work that they probably would not have tried back home.
Mr. Ban Van Tinh (29 years old) said that this was a group of foreign tourists who planned to travel to Ha Giang but were stranded due to the storm. They stayed at a homestay and enthusiastically helped families clean up their houses after the flood.

Mr. Tinh said that the group of visitors shared that they were surprised to see the flood disrupting the lives of the people, so they wanted to do something to support. After cleaning up Mrs. Binh's house, the group of visitors also went to many other houses in the neighborhood to dredge mud and sweep the ground.
At noon, the villagers cooked rice to entertain guests. The group happily sat down to eat with everyone after the storm and flood. The cleanup was not finished until about 4am.
"The group of tourists said that this was a memorable experience in their journey to explore Vietnam. They plan to stay here until the road to Dong Van and Meo Vac is reopened, and then begin their journey to explore the Ha Giang Loop," Mr. Tinh shared.
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Ha Minh Man, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang 2 Ward, said that the flood water rose rapidly from the night of September 30, causing many areas in the ward to be flooded. From 10am to 2pm on October 1, the flood water reached its peak, with some areas in the ward being flooded up to the first floor.
On the afternoon of October 2, 54 out of 61 residential groups were flooded and more than 5,000 houses were affected. Local authorities actively coordinated to support people in overcoming the consequences. By October 3, the water had basically receded.
Mr. Man also confirmed that in the past few days, many households in the ward have been helped by foreign tourists staying at nearby homestays to clean up their houses after the flood. The group of tourists did not mind the hard work and enthusiastically joined the locals in clearing mud and sweeping trash.
It is known that this is not the first time foreign visitors have come to Vietnam during the flood season and are willing to join hands to support people in difficulty.

During Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, a group of New Zealand and Spanish tourists were stranded in Sa Pa (Lao Cai province), and together they rolled up their sleeves to prepare hundreds of meals to serve people who lost electricity and water.
Ms. Candela said that while Sa Pa people had to cope with storms and floods, they were still willing to offer free accommodation and meals to the group, and help update the weather situation, which moved the whole group.
So when they learned that a travel company was preparing meals for people in flooded areas, they wanted to contribute to show their affection.
"The kindness and generosity of the people here surprised us. I have been to many countries but have never seen a place like this," Candela confided.
