DNO – At Tho Quang fishing port and harbor (Son Tra district) in the last days of the year, the atmosphere of buying and selling is very lively and bustling. Boats continuously arrive ashore with holds full of fish and shrimp, bringing joy and excitement in preparation for the upcoming Tet holiday of the Year of the Dragon 2024.

Around 3:30 AM on February 6th, a large number of traders and locals gathered at Tho Quang fishing port to buy and sell. The atmosphere at the fish market in the last days of the year was very lively and bustling.

Vehicles constantly arrive and depart, loaded with fish and shrimp, heading to the markets before dawn. According to many traders, the large number of boats docking during this period has led to a significant increase in seafood production at the markets, and fish prices remain relatively stable, without any sudden spikes. Demand from the public has increased by approximately 10-15% compared to previous months.

The types of seafood most frequently chosen by small traders and locals for this occasion are mackerel, tuna, barracuda, grouper, squid, etc. According to surveys, mackerel weighing under 3.5kg/fish costs from 240,000 - 250,000 VND/kg, while those over 3.5kg cost from 280,000 - 300,000 VND/kg; skipjack tuna (over 2kg) costs from 100,000-110,000 VND/kg; and skipjack tuna (over 3kg) costs from 60,000-80,000 VND/kg.

Mackerel is priced from 170,000-110,000 VND/kg; grouper from 190,000-200,000 VND/kg; black pomfret weighing over 800g from 150,000-160,000 VND/kg; squid (25cm/each) from 300,000-320,000 VND/kg.

According to the Tho Quang Fishing Port and Dock Management Board, from February 1st to 6th, the number of fishing vessels and vehicles operating at the Tho Quang fishing port and seafood wholesale market was 2,173, including 167 fishing vessels and 2,006 cars. The volume of seafood passing through the port was 360.6 tons, of which 150 tons were transported by fishing vessels and 210.4 tons by cars.

According to the Thọ Quang fishing port and dock management board, from February 1st to 6th, 2,173 vessels and fishing boats entered and exited the port for business and trading activities.
