Purchasing power increased sharply
A variety of toy products are sold at Lotte Mart Vung Tau supermarket. |
According to our survey in areas with concentrated toy stores such as Vung Tau market, Ba Ria city center and shopping centers in the province, the number of customers looking to buy toys for their children has increased 2-3 times compared to normal months.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, owner of a toy store on Le Hong Phong Street (Ward 7, Vung Tau City) shared: "Since the beginning of May, the store has started importing more goods to prepare for the peak season. This year, parents' shopping demand has increased sharply, especially foreducational toys and smart toys that develop thinking."
Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Hong Nhung, manager of a toy store at Ba Ria market, said: "The store serves about 80-100 customers every day, double the usual number. In particular, orders from schools and classrooms to buy gifts for students have also increased sharply during this time."
Remote control electric cars are popular with children and cost more than 500 thousand VND. |
It is worth noting that the consumption trends of local parents are gradually changing. Instead of only caring about price, many families now prioritize choosing products that are of good quality, safe for children and highly educational.
Ms. Tran Thi Lan Anh, a parent in Ward 1 (Vung Tau City) shared: "This year I decided to buy my child an educational Lego set instead of cheap toys like every year. Although the price is higher, my child can play for a long time and develop creative thinking."
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang (Long Tam ward, Ba Ria city) said: "My wife and I are willing to spend 500 thousand VND to buy a set of science toys for our 8-year-old son instead of buying many small toys."
The most popular products currently include: Lego toys and other smart assembly toys (from 25,000 - 800,000 VND/set), dolls and fashion accessories for girls (50,000 - 300,000 VND), model cars and transforming robots for boys (40,000 - 500,000 VND), along with educational toy sets such as alphabets and numbers (30,000 - 150,000 VND).
Huge promotional campaign attracts customers
To compete in this vibrant market, toy stores in the province have launched a series of attractive promotional programs with many diverse forms.
At Lotte Mart Vung Tau supermarket, many toy products are discounted from 10% - 50%. Meanwhile, small retail stores are not far behind with flexible promotional programs. Many stores apply a 15-25% discount policy for all products, with small gifts or free delivery within the city.
A notable new point in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau toy market this year is the strong development of online sales channels. Many stores have converted to digital, combining direct sales with e-commerce to expand their customer base.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, owner of the online shop "Toys of Childhood" with a store in Vung Tau City, said: "The online channel helps us reach customers in distant districts such as Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc. Revenue from this channel accounts for about 40% of the store's total revenue in May."
In particular, many stores also offer a "view before buying" service via video call, helping customers feel more secure when shopping online, especially with high-value products.
In addition to expanding the market and increasing sales, local retailers also pay special attention to product quality and safety. Most stores are committed to selling only products with clear origins and meeting safety standards for children.
With positive signals from the market, toy traders in Ba Ria - Vung Tau expect their June revenue to increase by 150-200% compared to normal months. Healthy competition between stores not only brings more choices to consumers but also promotes increasingly improved service quality.
