The "roses" protecting security and order at the grassroots level

Currently, in the force participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level, the number of women accounts for about 15%. Not only are they tasked with ensuring security and order, they are also the bridge between the government and the people, and are close friends of the people, especially in remote areas. With gentleness but determination, they are effectively promoting their role in maintaining security right from the grassroots level.

"Rose" is loved by the people and trusted by teammates

In Ha Giang Ward 1, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Giang, 65 years old, a member of the Security Team of Team 13, is affectionately called "steel rose" by the locals. Retiring in 2019, working locally as the Head of the Women's Association of the team, and also a member of the Security Team at the grassroots level, she has become a close friend of every household. Whether dealing with domestic violence cases or assisting the elderly in making citizen identification cards, Ms. Giang is always present in a timely manner, handling the situation flexibly and reasonably.

At the end of 2024, while on patrol, Ms. Giang and her team discovered a group of young people gathering unusually, with signs of organizing gambling. Instead of confronting them, she proactively reported to the ward leaders, coordinated with the head of the residential group, and came to propagate the consequences of violating the law. Thanks to Ms. Giang's perseverance and tact, the group of young people later voluntarily wrote a commitment not to re-offend.

Ha Giang Ward 1 currently has 37 grassroots security teams, including 6 female members. With their sensitivity and closeness, they have brought into play their advantages in contacting and mobilizing the people. Internal conflicts and outstanding issues in the community are quickly grasped by them, helping the ward police force effectively advise the Party Committee and authorities in handling situations.

In Chang Chay village, Po Ly Ngai commune, the name “Security Sister Sen” has become familiar and close to the people. Ms. Sin Thi Sen, 27 years old, is a member of the Security Team of the village, a remote area where 98% of the population is Nung ethnic group. As a child of the village, witnessing the daily changes of her homeland, she is even more determined to contribute.

With enthusiasm, Ms. Sen is not afraid of difficulties or hardships. In the village, from the theft of chickens to mobilizing people to hand over homemade guns and dangerous weapons, she gently approaches and persistently persuades. Regardless of rain or wind or late at night, she is always present in time whenever conflicts or disputes arise in the village.

"With Ms. Sen here, people feel secure" - a simple sentence but the greatest recognition from the people for her.

Female cadres like Ms. Giang and Ms. Sen are a solid support in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level. They do not need glory or praise, but in the eyes of the people and their comrades, they are "roses" - strong, brave and full of humanity.

Hard but proud

The work of female officers in the local security force is not without difficulties. They do their jobs, develop the family economy , do mass mobilization, and shoulder the responsibility of being a wife and mother in the family. There are times when they receive news late at night and are ready to go out in the rain and wind. However, they still work hard to stay, considering it their responsibility and pride as those who work for the people.

The province currently has 3,802 grassroots security teams with 11,339 members. The number of female volunteers participating in the task is increasing. Although initially confused and worried, after a while, they have demonstrated their bravery, contributing to the locality's grasp of the crime and social evils situation, promptly detecting and preventing complicated cases, effectively supporting the police force in consulting and handling.

Colonel Chu Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, said that since the grassroots security force was established and put into operation, the political security situation and social order and safety in the province have basically stabilized. Many conflicts in the community have been handled right from the start, not allowing them to develop into hot spots. In that overall success, the mark of female security officers is very clear, they are truly the "extended arm" of the police force in the task of maintaining security at the grassroots level.
