On August 12 in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) in collaboration with Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Sacombank ) launched the 12th stage of "Steps for the community" to build a cultural house for the Cong ethnic community in Lai Chau province. Attending were alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy and 500 young people and students of the capital.
Speaking at the program, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Kim Quy said that the program "Steps for the Community" has implemented 11 stages with more than 111 thousand athletes participating, contributing 11 billion VND to the fund to build community houses for ethnic minorities, including: Chut, Lu, La Ha, Lo Lo, Pa Then, Mang and Co Lao... Following the success of the previous stages, stage 12 "Steps for the Community" was officially launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in coordination with Sacombank from August 12 to September 3.
The Standing Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union called on union members, youth, police officers and soldiers, and people to register to participate in "Steps for the Community", expressing their love for the Fatherland through voluntary steps because each step not only helps improve health but also accompanies the Union and Association in the journey of caring for spiritual life, preserving and promoting the traditions of ethnic minority communities in the big family of the Vietnamese nation.
On this occasion, to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the 78th anniversary of the People's Public Security tradition day, the Organizing Committee awarded 40 scholarships to 40 young people and students of the People's Public Security who are ethnic minorities with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies; presented a symbolic plaque for the project "Cong ethnic community cultural house" living in Lai Chau province worth 1 billion VND.
Immediately after the program, delegates and 500 union members, youths participating in the program participated in a run/walk in response with distances: 5 km, 10 km around Thien Quang Lake.
Registration portal for the race is at the website: www.sacombankrunnersclub.com The program does not limit the number of participants and does not specify the registered distance. Athletes can walk or jog, as long as the average speed is from 4 minutes/km to 20 minutes/km. For each km that an athlete walks/jogs, Sacombank will contribute 1,000 VND to the fund.
The program "Steps for the community" is deployed nationwide, aiming to promote the movement "10,000 steps a day", widely propagate to members and young people about health training, mobilize young people to voluntarily practice physical exercise and sports , improve their physical fitness; at the same time promote the spirit of volunteering for the community of the Association at all levels and members and young people nationwide in caring for and accompanying ethnic minorities to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of 16 ethnic minorities in Vietnam (ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people). It is expected that from 2020 to 2024, the program will deploy 16 community cultural houses for 16 ethnic minorities, each cultural house worth 1 billion VND. |
