On the construction site of the village road from Dat Lanh to the three villages of Khoai Lang, Chieu, and Giap Dat, despite the cold weather and drizzle at the end of the year, the atmosphere was one of urgent work. Contractors concentrated their manpower and machinery to ensure the project's progress and completion so that the people could celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026.

Construction of a road from Dat Lanh village to the three villages of Khoai Lang, Chieu, and Giap Dat in Muong Coi commune.

The road project connecting Dat Lanh village to Khoai Lang, Chieu, and Giap Dat villages, spanning 6.2 km, features a 4m wide roadbed, a 3m wide, 18cm thick concrete surface, and supporting infrastructure funded by the National Target Program 1719. To ensure the project's progress, the investor regularly monitors the site, urging the construction unit to mobilize maximum machinery and personnel, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to organize phased construction, and guaranteeing the quality of the project according to the design. To date, over 4km of the road has been concreted; nearly 2km remain, with the goal of completing it before the Lunar New Year 2026.

Walking along the smooth, beautiful concrete road connecting the villages, Mr. Ban Van Trich from Khoai Lang village, Muong Coi commune, expressed his joy: "Seeing the workers' bustling activity, everyone is thrilled because the dream of having a concrete road to the commune has now come true."

Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee on reviewing the emergence of poor households in need of housing support, Muong Coi commune assigned officials to each village to inspect the current situation and prepare dossiers according to the support criteria. Simultaneously, they mobilized the people to contribute labor, provide materials, and guide households in accessing preferential loans to build houses that meet the "three solid" standards. Through the review, the commune identified 16 poor households needing to replace temporary housing in 2025. These poor households will receive government support of 60 million VND per household for new construction and 40 million VND per household for house repairs. In addition, the commune directed mass organizations to mobilize members to contribute labor for transporting materials, leveling the ground, and cleaning houses for the poor households. For households facing extreme financial difficulties, the commune proactively provided funds to purchase construction materials, which the households will repay after receiving housing support funds.

Mr. Bui Duy Long, Head of the Economic Department of Muong Coi Commune, informed: To date, 16 households have started construction of houses, of which 12 households in the villages of Tong Cau, Na Xe, Yen Thinh, Suoi Bi, Suoi Coc, Suoi Leo, and So have completed and put into use. Construction is continuing on 4 more houses in the villages of Thai, Ban, Suoi Leo, and Suoi Coc; the goal is to complete the work of eliminating temporary housing within the next 10 days.

Together with officials from Muong Coi commune, we visited the family of Ms. Hang Thi Xu in Tong Cau village, a particularly disadvantaged household in the commune. Ms. Xu herself does not have a stable job, and her husband is often ill. In November 2025, the People's Committee of the commune assessed Ms. Xu as eligible to build a house and provided an advance on building materials. Relatives supported and assisted in building a new 65m2 single-story house, costing a total of 105 million VND; of which 60 million VND was supported by the State, and the rest was contributed by family and relatives. Ms. Xu emotionally said: "Before, our house was infested with termites, the walls were made of makeshift wooden planks, and we worried about it collapsing during the rainy season. This year, we are celebrating Tet in a solid, warm house, and my family is very happy. Thank you very much to the Party and the State."

The newly completed house fulfills the long-awaited needs of poor households in Muong Coi commune.

In 2025, Muong Coi commune prioritized and integrated resources to invest in essential infrastructure for remote villages, such as: paving roads; building village cultural centers; health stations; and water supply projects. The commune directed villages with projects to promote and encourage residents to voluntarily donate land and labor to ensure project progress. Simultaneously, it promoted the role of the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, and the people in monitoring the progress and quality of the projects. In 2025, the commune received over 43 billion VND from national target programs and the budget of Phu Yen district (formerly) to invest in the construction of 14 projects; including: 3 transportation projects; 4 projects to repair and upgrade village cultural centers; 1 commune health station; 5 projects for maintenance, repair, and new construction of water supply systems; and 1 lighting project.

Thanks to the effective deployment of resources focused on building socio-economic infrastructure, the infrastructure of Muong Coi commune has achieved positive results. To date, 100% of villages have paved roads; over 99% of households have access to electricity from the national grid; 98% of the rural population uses clean water for daily life; 27 out of 32 villages have paved cultural houses; the commune has met 15 out of 19 criteria and 51 out of 57 indicators for building new rural areas; and 4 villages have achieved the standards of new rural villages and model new rural villages.
