Party members lead the way, setting the example for the people to follow.

At 72 years old, Party member Pham Minh Phuong (seated in the middle), from the Lam Kieu village branch, Le Hong commune, Thanh Mien district, remains agile, energetic, and dedicated to the common good, earning the trust and affection of the people.

The people trust

This year, Party member Pham Minh Phuong from the Lam Kieu village branch, Le Hong commune, Thanh Mien district (Hai Duong province) celebrates her 45th anniversary of Party membership. The joy is even more meaningful as, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), Ms. Phuong received numerous commendations and was nominated by the Provincial Party Committee for a certificate of merit for her contributions.

Born in 1952, Mrs. Phuong was originally a teacher from the distant Cao Bang province who moved to Hai Duong with her husband to live and work. At 72 years old, having retired 20 years ago, she remains actively involved in local community organizations. She still travels daily on her old electric bicycle throughout the villages and communes, serving as the Vice President of the Elderly Association of Le Hong commune and concurrently as the Head of the Elderly Association branch in Lam Kieu village.

No matter how far the distance, Ms. Phuong always went the extra mile to do her job well. While working at the school, she was exemplary in her professional activities and union work. After retiring, she continued to work diligently for the retired teachers' association and the elderly association, having been entrusted with these responsibilities by the people for the past 20 years.

In these final days of the year, Ms. Phuong is even busier with her work. Having just finished coordinating the review of eligible individuals for visits and gift-giving to the elderly and support for the poor by various levels of government, she is now preparing to organize birthday celebrations, longevity ceremonies, and cultural and sports activities to celebrate the Party and the New Year.

"When entrusted with tasks by the people and the organization, as a Party member, I strive to fulfill them for the common good. Things that seem small are actually very important, especially for the disadvantaged in rural areas, so I must be dedicated and committed," Ms. Phuong shared.

Give your best effort

While chatting with Party member Nguyen Huu Dung at the La Giang village branch, Van To commune (Tu Ky district), we noticed that Mr. Dung shed tears several times as he recounted his journey to joining the Party and his dedication to fulfilling his promise to the Party.

Mr. Dung was a special forces soldier who achieved a great feat in Da Nang at the age of 19, and was admitted to the Party right on the battlefield. Leaving the battlefield as a 45% disabled veteran, Mr. Dung continued to live and fight for the noble ideals of a Party member.

He went to school, taught, and then worked as an administrator. During his four years as Principal of Tu Ky II High School (2014-2018), Mr. Dung led the school from the bottom of the private high school rankings in the entire province to the top, with the belief that quality is paramount in education.

Since 2001, after ensuring his children were settled, Mr. Dung began devoting his efforts to social activities in his local community.

All three of his children are successful, and the family's finances are not difficult, but the 72-year-old Party member still diligently raises honeybees, saving every penny of his retired teacher's salary to carefully set aside 15-20 million VND each year to give gifts to poor students who overcome difficulties, buy swings and exercise equipment for children, and give gifts to lonely people without support every Tet holiday.

For his contributions, Mr. Dung has received a commendation from the Prime Minister and numerous certificates of merit from various levels. This year, as an outstanding Party member, Mr. Dung has been nominated by the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee for a commendation.

Even now, he remains passionate about promoting education and helping poor children. Despite undergoing medical treatment, Mr. Dung strongly affirms: "I will only rest when my hands can no longer work. I will strive until my last breath for my ideals and the promise I made to the Party as a Party member."

For the common good

Party member Nguyen Tien Thanh, Head of the Management Board of Dong Nien Temple and Pagoda (Hai Duong City), cherishes the certificate of commendation recently awarded to the Management Board by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the ward for outstanding achievements in 2024.

In 2018, after the Management Board of the Dong Nien National Monument in Viet Hoa Ward (Hai Duong City) experienced some unpleasant incidents related to revenue and expenditure, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh was trusted by the people and elected as the Head of the Monument Management Board.

For six years, Mr. Thanh has undertaken this work without receiving any monthly allowance. He donates all of the 300,000 VND he receives to the historical site.

When asked about an exemplary party member who has made many contributions to the common good in the locality, the leader of the Viet Hoa Ward People's Committee immediately mentioned party member Nguyen Tien Thanh.

Mr. Thanh was born in 1954 in Zone 5, Viet Hoa Ward. He served in the army and was honored to be admitted to the Party while on a campaign in Laos. Upon returning to his hometown, he worked in the commune (now Viet Hoa Ward) and retired as Chairman of the People's Council.

Since Mr. Thanh started working at the historical site, the people have been enthusiastic and confident as many activities are organized in a systematic, meaningful, and transparent manner. From 2018 to the present, many large-scale projects such as temples, triple-arched gates, and ceremonial halls have been built at the historical site complex with a budget of over 10 billion VND. Construction will soon begin on a new communal house gate, which is in a state of disrepair.

As the manager of a national-level historical site, Mr. Thanh is not afraid to take on many tasks, coordinating closely with specialized agencies at the city and provincial levels in managing and renovating the site to ensure compliance with regulations.

Sharing their thoughts with us, Mr. Thanh, like Ms. Phuong and Mr. Dung, all believe that when the collective and the people entrust them with responsibilities, they must do their best for the common good and set a good example for others to follow.
