With the support of the State and the community, the family of Ms. Dao Thi Ngoan (middle) in Zone 8, Than Uyen Commune has a solid house.

In the story, when recalling, Mr. Ha Van Mien in La Muong village still did not forget to celebrate the day he moved into his new house with the leaders of the commune, village, and villagers coming to celebrate and congratulate him. His family is a poor household, for many years, 5 people have lived in a dilapidated, cramped wooden house, the fear of the house collapsing when the rainy season comes is always in their hearts, but because they have no money, they have to stay single. Mr. Mien emotionally said: “My whole life, my wife and I have only relied on a few fields, having enough to eat is already a joy, building a new house is just a thought but cannot be done. Luckily, in April 2025, we received 60 million VND from the State support through the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, I borrowed more from my brothers and villagers to support the labor of dismantling the old house, leveling the ground, and building a new solid house. Now, my family and I can live in peace, focus on economic development to escape poverty soon”.
The current life of Mr. Mien's family was once the dream of many poor households in the commune, including Ms. Dao Thi Ngoan's family in Zone 8. The financial support and the companionship of the community and relatives are the motivation for her to complete the new house to ensure "3 hard" and continue to strive in life.
It is known that, implementing the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister , Than Uyen commune reviewed the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. As a result, 91 households have the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses (including 65 poor households, 20 near-poor households, and 6 households with meritorious services).
To ensure the completion of the goal of eliminating all temporary and dilapidated houses by June 2025, the Commune People's Committee has established teams to inspect the implementation progress; guide and remove difficulties and obstacles arising during the implementation process at the grassroots level. Request villages and hamlets to report specific progress on a weekly and monthly basis as a basis for proactively developing implementation plans, allocating resources, and mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and society.
In implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the commune received the consensus and support of the community and the participation and contributions of many organizations and individuals. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and socio-political organizations actively accompanied the commune government in propaganda, mobilization, and mobilization of social resources for support. The armed forces participated, contributing working days to transport materials, dismantle old houses, and level the ground to speed up the implementation progress. The spirit of "Mutual love and support" was promoted and spread strongly, so that each house that started construction received material attention and spiritual encouragement.
According to statistics, the whole commune had 5,586 people participating in supporting 2,793 working days. Thanks to that mutual support, many households completed new houses in just 2-3 months, saving labor costs, increasing cohesion and sharing in the community. As of May 31, 2025, the whole commune started and completed construction and repair of 91 houses (77 new houses; 14 houses repaired), reaching 100% of the plan, 1 month ahead of schedule compared to the set plan.
Talking to us, comrade Phan Van Ngoc - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee emphasized: The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses helps poor and near-poor households and policy families to have the conditions to build new and repair houses, improve the quality of life, ensure social security, consolidate political security and social order and safety in the area. Completing the program is an important criterion and motivation for the commune to strive to become an advanced new rural commune in the 2025 - 2030 term.
Not only do new houses improve housing, they also open up opportunities for economic development, increased income and sustainable poverty reduction for families. Each new house completed improves the appearance of the countryside; people are motivated to improve, and the government is more confident in its goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
