Practical gifts from the mainland to soldiers and people on Truong Sa island

On each trip, the delegations visited Truong Sa Island and DK1 Platform, with their thoughtful and caring feelings towards the sacred territory, localities, units and enterprises sent many material and spiritual gifts to the islands and platforms during the delegation's journey.

During the visit, the Navy Command, central and local agencies/organizations of Working Group No. 21 presented officers, soldiers and people of Truong Sa district and DK1 Platform with many practical and meaningful gifts with a total value of more than 3 billion VND.

Great source of encouragement

Working group No. 21 visiting Truong Sa island, including more than 270 delegates from the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Yen Bai province, Tay Ninh province; central and local agencies, departments, artists and reporters, completed the visit to encourage the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district (Khanh Hoa province) and DK1 platform on the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland from May 18-24.

The delegation led by Colonel Ngo Van Thanh - Political Commissar of the Naval Technical Department visited the soldiers and people of Len Dao, Sinh Ton Dong, An Bang, Da Tay C, Da Dong B, Truong Sa islands and DK 1/21 platform (Ba Ke).

Before leaving the port, the delegation offered incense at the Monument of the Unnumbered Ships, belonging to Brigade 125, to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones, opening the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea.

At the places visited, the delegation members were informed by the units about the results of the task of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland and the living conditions of the people on the islands.

Captain Thang Huy Nam - Political Commissar of DK1/21 platform, informed that in 2023, the unit successfully completed the tasks assigned by DK1 Battalion. In particular, the unit has excellently completed the work of combat readiness and mobile training, with 100% of soldiers achieving good and excellent grades in training. Not stopping there, the platform is also a solid support, helping fishermen go offshore and stick to the sea. In 2023, the platform provided 15,000 liters of domestic water, hundreds of kilograms of rice, cooking oil, and necessities for fishermen when exploiting and catching aquatic products in the area near the platform when there was a shortage of domestic water, food, and provisions.

Receiving the affection from the mainland for all officers and soldiers of the unit on the DK1/21 platform, Captain Thang Huy Nam confided: "Never before have officers and soldiers on the platform felt as happy as today, the distance between the mainland and the platform is so close. We have received the affection from the mainland and the gifts. This is a great source of encouragement and spiritual support for officers and soldiers on the platform to always work with peace of mind, to determine well all assigned tasks. In particular, the soldiers on the platform are always highly determined, to firmly maintain the sovereignty of the sacred continental shelf, not to be careless or lose vigilance, ready to respond well to handle all situations within their authority with the spirit of 'As long as there are people, there will be the platform'.

The home front and the mainland always stand side by side

Mr. Hoang Quoc Long - Director of the Department of Youth Affairs (Ministry of Home Affairs), Deputy Head of the Working Group, said that the Working Group visited, encouraged and presented gifts to the soldiers and civilians on Truong Sa island district and DK1 Platform with many valuable gifts both spiritually and materially. These gifts include: TVs, refrigerators, computers, karaoke sound systems, rechargeable fans, portable speakers and various necessities, hometown specialties...

“These are practical gifts for the naval officers and soldiers who are day and night guarding and protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland on Truong Sa Archipelago and DKI Platform, to give more confidence and strength to the soldiers and people of the island district and the platform to feel secure and excited to stick with the sea and islands, stand firm at the forefront of the wind and waves, and firmly protect the sovereignty of the beloved sea and islands of the Fatherland,” emphasized Mr. Hoang Quoc Long.

In the working group No. 21, localities, units and enterprises presented many valuable gifts with a total amount of more than 3 billion VND; of which the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises sponsored and presented nearly 2 billion VND, Tay Ninh province presented gifts and cash worth 500 million VND and 500 million VND to support the "Greening Truong Sa" Fund, the Ministry of Home Affairs presented gifts and cash worth more than 400 million VND, Yen Bai province presented gifts and cash on the islands worth more than 200 million VND...

In particular, the Truong Sa Medicine Cabinet Program has been implemented for many years to mobilize the support of departments and businesses in health care for soldiers and civilians on the islands. Mr. Ha Ngoc Son - General Director of TV.PHARM Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (a member of Aikya Group) said that in recent years, the company has promoted the volunteer movement and contributed to society and to the border guards who are soldiers on remote islands of the Fatherland.

“The medicine cabinet program for Truong Sa has been implemented by us for the past 5 years and this year we have added a new plan which is to participate in the Greening Truong Sa Program by sponsoring vegetable gardens for soldiers on the islands and platforms. I think this is a very practical activity to ensure the material life of soldiers on the island, avoiding shortages from the mainland and these are also movements that the Navy and the Ministry of National Defense are currently launching for businesses to participate in”, Mr. Ha Ngoc Son analyzed.

With the Truong Sa medicine cabinet program, TV.PHARM's desire is to provide medicine and knowledge about health protection with health protection medicines that provide abundant energy for soldiers.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tien - Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of Working Group No. 21 said that on the journey the delegation passed, the young soldiers all demonstrated their determination, enthusiasm of youth, made efforts to dedicate themselves, always taking the lead in studying, researching, working and protecting the Fatherland, protecting national sovereignty.

“That makes us feel very moved. You, comrades, have continued to portray the image of young, steadfast, indomitable communists, always following the example of great Uncle Ho and previous generations. Therefore, the soldiers on Truong Sa island are always assured because the mainland is always close by, standing next to you and is a solid support for you to work with peace of mind. On this working trip, Tay Ninh province presented gifts and converted them into money worth 500 million VND and 500 million VND to support the Truong Sa Greening Fund,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tien.

In particular, the delegation not only brought gifts and material works, but also through the singing of singers and actors of the Army Music and Dance Theater. The cultural exchange programs between the delegation and the soldiers will further fuel the dreams, feelings and love for the soldiers and people on the remote islands./.
