Over the past period, thanks to numerous efforts, Hung Yen's tourism sector has achieved many outstanding results. This also serves as a foundation for the "smoke-free industry" to continue achieving even higher results in 2024 and the following years.

Despite lacking abundant natural tourism resources, Hung Yen is considered a land of outstanding people and rich historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions. Currently, the province has over 1,800 historical sites; of which, 175 are classified as national-level sites and clusters of sites, and 271 are classified as provincial-level sites and clusters of sites. The Pho Hien historical site (Hung Yen city), Thai Lac pagoda (Van Lam district), and An Xa temple (Tien Lu district) are classified as special national-level historical sites; 7 artifacts and groups of artifacts have been recognized as national treasures.

Not only is Hung Yen's cultural heritage vast in quantity and density, but its tangible and intangible values are also rich and unique, embodying the essence of national culture with over 500 festivals, 147 traditional craft villages, and 243 units of folk songs, proverbs, chants, fables, fairy tales, lullabies, and funeral orations. The province currently has 5 cultural heritages included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage: the art of drum-singing in Da Trach commune (Khoai Chau); the Tong Tran Temple Festival in Tong Tran commune (Phu Cu); the Rain-Praying Festival in Lac Hong commune (Van Lam); the Da Hoa Temple Festival (Binh Minh commune, Khoai Chau district and Me So commune, Van Giang district); and the An Xa Temple Festival in An Vien commune (Tien Lu). The people of Hung Yen are friendly, hospitable, and value righteousness and affection, always welcoming visitors with open hearts. These advantages become important resources for developing cultural and spiritual tourism, creating a brand for Hung Yen tourism.

To leverage its advantages and potential, and to make tourism a key economic sector in the socio-economic development strategy, for many years the province has directed all levels and sectors to implement a series of specific activities, including the issuance of numerous mechanisms and policies for tourism development. Along with that are specialized projects and programs on developing tourism in craft villages, promoting the value of historical and cultural relics in conjunction with tourism...

All levels and sectors should focus on building and perfecting a system of attractive tours, routes, and tourist destinations; developing tourism products and convenient services to serve tourists; consolidating provincial-level tourist destinations; focusing on developing and improving the skills of tour guides at these destinations; encouraging collectives and individuals to develop community tourism in craft villages and ecological agricultural areas; building mechanisms to support the development of high-tech and digital tourism products; and providing preferential treatment for tourism workers…

In addition, the province is focusing on upgrading, expanding, and developing infrastructure to support tourism development, while also strengthening tourism promotion and marketing through various forms to domestic and international tourists. As a result, in 2023 and the first six months of 2024, the number of tourists visiting Hung Yen is estimated at approximately 1.5 million, with total tourism revenue estimated at 1,150 billion VND.

Comrade Pham Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: Hung Yen's tourism experienced strong growth in 2023 and the first six months of 2024, a result of tourism promotion and marketing efforts over many years. Tourist destinations have been established and perfected, with tour guides and tourism products. In particular, the focus on developing cultural and spiritual tourism with destinations at historical and cultural relics such as: the Pho Hien National Special Relic Site, the Da Hoa - Da Trach relic complex, the Phu Ung Temple relic site, the Nguyen Van Linh Memorial Area, Nom Pagoda, Nom Village, the La Tien Banyan Tree and Temple National Historical Site, Tong Tran Temple… has led to a significant increase in visitor numbers. In addition, the province successfully organized many large-scale events, notably: the Tourism Destination Promotion Conference and the event "Hung Yen Cultural and Tourism Space - A Journey of Discovery and Dissemination" in Hanoi; The first Hung Yen Provincial Food Festival in 2024 will feature a series of activities including: introducing the province's tours, routes, and tourist destinations; displaying and showcasing traditional craft products; displaying, introducing, and promoting OCOP products; and performing traditional arts such as drum singing, Ca Tru, and Chau Van.

Recently, tourism in Hung Yen has opened up new avenues of development. Many groups and individuals have invested in agricultural farms combined with sightseeing, photography, and purchasing agricultural products. Typical examples include the flower and ornamental plant villages in Xuan Quan, Phung Cong, and Me So communes (Van Giang district); the Nghia Trai traditional medicine village in Tan Quang commune (Van Lam district); and the Hong Nam longan cooperative (Hung Yen city)... offering interesting experiences and attracting tourists from within and outside the province.
Along with the above results, Hung Yen tourism also received good news: Hung Yen was ranked among the top emerging destinations in Vietnam with the Vinhomes Ocean Park urban area (Van Giang), attracting a large number of tourists for recreation and entertainment thanks to its modern and magnificent European-style beauty. This place is dubbed the "Entertainment Universe," aiming to welcome millions of tourists for sightseeing, entertainment, and shopping. In addition, to exploit tourism resources along the Red River, on July 6, 2023, the Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 368/NQ-HĐND approving the investment plan for the project to build a road connecting cultural heritage, tourism, and economic development along the Red River, with a total investment of approximately 9,275 billion VND. These are considered prerequisites and opportunities for Hung Yen to continue promoting the development of the tourism industry, aiming to attract more than 1 million tourists in 2024. Total revenue from tourism reached nearly 1 trillion VND.
