On the afternoon of May 25th (local time), the Dutch national police agency Koninklijke Marechaussee announced on X that an individual had been arrested on suspicion of transporting prohibited substances.

“We have just released a 41-year-old American woman. We arrested her this afternoon in Schiphol on suspicion of exporting non-narcotic drugs. After consulting with the prosecutor's office, the suspect has been fined and can continue her journey,” the police wrote.

Dutch police did not reveal the suspect's identity or the amount of the fine, but everyone knows that the "41-year-old American woman" is the famous rapper Nicki Minaj because she live-streamed the entire incident on Instagram Live.

During the broadcast, Minaj explained that police told her that cannabis had been found in her bag and it had to be weighed. At the time, she was traveling from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Manchester (England) as part of her Pink Friday 2 world tour.

Despite vehemently denying transporting illegal substances, the female rapper was still escorted to the police station. The owner of the hit song "Anaconda" expressed her anger at being put into a police van and "taken into an area without a lawyer present." She also accused someone working for airport security of requiring her to make a statement without a lawyer present after unauthorized rolls of paper were found in her bag.

Before her arrest, Minaj posted a series of articles on X about her luggage being searched at the airport. She criticized authorities for taking her luggage without her consent. The 80s-born beauty even put forward a conspiracy theory that someone had planted illegal substances in her luggage to disrupt her tour.

“They were paid a large sum of money to try to sabotage my tour because so many people were going crazy over how successful it was and they couldn’t eat me alive. They were caught red-handed stealing money from my trip/jet,” she alleged.

In another post, she explained that she recently fired her private management team for charging an extra $30,000-$50,000 for her private flights, pocketing the surplus.

Currently, the female rapper's representatives have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Fans are disappointed.

The brief arrest led to the postponement of the show scheduled for the evening of May 25th in the UK. A statement from Co-op Live Arena, the venue for the concert, did not specify when Minaj would return to perform.

Minaj was scheduled to take the stage at 6:30 PM on May 25th, then it was postponed to 7 PM before being rescheduled. Video from the scene showed supporters lining up hours before the show, chanting "Free Nicki Minaj" and hoping the star would make it. Almost every seat in the arena was filled. However, they were ultimately disappointed when the organizers made the final announcement. Many people protested this decision.

Footage taken inside the Co-op Live Arena, the UK's largest indoor arena with a capacity of 23,500, shows thousands of fans patiently waiting for their idols to arrive. When the announcement was made, there were many boos and expressions of disappointment.

A fan named Alesha shared with the Daily Mail that she felt heartbroken that the long-awaited show had been postponed.

“The tickets weren’t cheap. We spent a lot of money just to be there tonight, not to mention the travel costs and the outfits we invested in for the trip. It’s a shame the organizers didn’t inform us in advance that the show was postponed,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kian Young (23, from Scunthorpe, England) said he was confused as to why the Co-op Arena hadn't spoken to the fans. He also wondered why they didn't cancel the event immediately upon hearing about Minaj's arrest, instead of making everyone wait pointlessly. Young added that his wife had cried out of disappointment.

Others blamed the singer for causing the chaos. Olivia Gibson, from Newcastle, England, even declared herself a "former fan."

“I’m horrified. But in a way, I’m not shocked. It’s not Co-op Live’s fault. It’s Nicki Minaj’s fault. She just let all her fans down,” the 21-year-old criticized.

After arriving in Manchester, the female rapper thanked her fans for their encouragement and apologized for not being able to perform as planned.

“Please accept my deepest and most sincere apology. They certainly knew exactly how to hurt me today, but this will pass. They’ve done this time and time again, and I’ve tried very hard not to discuss it because you all deserve good things. I hate dragging you into anything that isn’t for entertainment,” the pop star emphasized.

She promised to make up for it with another performance for her fans, along with an additional reward. According to Minaj, the exact timing hasn't been determined yet, but she and her team are discussing options for June and July.

At the end of the open letter, rapper Bang Bang confirmed that his second show in Manchester on May 30th will still go ahead as scheduled.

Nicki Minaj (born 1982), whose real name is Onika Tanya Mara, is from Trinidad and Tobago. She is famous for her many roles as a rapper, singer/songwriter, actress, and model. She is one of the most successful female rappers in the world today. She is loved for many hit songs such as Starships, Super Bass, Anaconda, Bang Bang, etc.
