The pride of Tam Dao tourism

2024 is the third consecutive year that Tam Dao town (Tam Dao) has received the World Travel Awards honoring the "World's Leading Destination Town" - this is a sweet achievement marking a strong transformation in the town's tourism development. This shows the continuous efforts of the government and people of Tam Dao district to actively build the image of Tam Dao town into a friendly tourist area, a leading resort destination domestically and internationally.

Wake up the princess

Before becoming the land of rhododendrons, exactly 120 years ago, the French discovered Tam Dao valley and built it into a summer resort for French officials in the late 19th century. With a mountain-like position, embracing the clouds, at an altitude of more than 900 m above sea level, Tam Dao town is blessed with a fresh, cool climate all year round, along with the majestic natural scenery of ancient pine forests in the Tam Dao mountain range.

Through many ups and downs of history, Tam Dao town is likened to a sleeping princess in the forest carrying poetic beauty, rich cultural identity associated with Vinh Phuc people, rich in potential for tourism development. However, due to underdeveloped infrastructure, for a long time Tam Dao town has not taken full advantage to develop into a famous tourist area.

In order to build Tam Dao town into an attractive tourist destination, promoting its leading role in economic development, Tam Dao town has received attention from the province in investing in infrastructure, especially traffic infrastructure with key projects such as: Project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 2B, from Chan Suoi bridge to Tam Dao 1 tourist area; project to build squares, green parks... ensuring essential infrastructure to help the town's tourism grow as it is today.

Chairman of Tam Dao Town People's Committee Nguyen Duy Dung shared: Becoming a world-leading destination town is the result of a development process with a long-term investment strategy. In addition to infrastructure, people are a particularly important factor. The awareness and actions of each business household and resident will be the highlight to create an impression on tourists.

Building a professional tourism environment, promoting the image of Tam Dao town tourism area, the town government has gradually innovated the form of propaganda so that each resident and business household changes their awareness and thinking about new ways of doing tourism, creating sympathy with tourists. Thanks to that, in recent years, Tam Dao has made strong changes to become a "precious gem" of Vinh Phuc tourism, accompanied and invested in development by many large enterprises in the tourism sector.

Attractive destination

Up to now, Tam Dao town has formed a chain of large-scale restaurants and hotels with a total of more than 3,000 standard rooms, ensuring the necessary conditions to meet the needs of tourists coming to relax. The appearance of a system of 4-star and 5-star hotels has raised the level of Tam Dao tourism. In addition, there are hundreds of Homestay establishments, creating high-class tourism products, resort tourism, seminars, conferences... which are welcomed and highly appreciated by tourists.

In 2024, many major events were organized by the town associated with tourism activities such as: Rhododendron Flower Festival; the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Tam Dao town called "Winter Imprint" and many meaningful cultural activities that created a strong influence on domestic and international tourists. The construction of walking streets and culinary streets initially brought interesting experiences to visitors, contributing to renewing the tourism image of Tam Dao town.

With the determination of the government and the cooperation of the people, the image of Tam Dao town tourism is not only beautiful in the eyes of domestic tourists but also has become especially impressive to international tourists in recent years. The proof is that despite the economic difficulties, the number of tourists coming to Tam Dao in 2024 is constantly increasing, it is estimated that the number of domestic tourists coming to Tam Dao town will reach a record number of nearly 500,000 people, the highest ever; the number of international tourists has increased dramatically from a few hundred tourists to about 2,000 people.

Continuing to affirm its position and promote the economic strengths of Tam Dao town in the coming years, Tam Dao district focuses on implementing the Project "Developing tourism in Tam Dao district to 2025, with a vision to 2030"; Project "Preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of San Diu ethnic people in Vinh Phuc province for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030"; General planning of Tam Dao urban area; promulgating the Project "Building a new civilized and friendly Tam Dao people towards sustainable development".

Synchronously implement planning and mobilize investment resources for tourism development, strengthen State management of tourism, build a civilized, friendly, safe tourism environment, improve the quality of human resources in the tourism and service industries.

Diversify and improve the quality of unique and advantageous tourism products such as: Spiritual tourism, resort tourism, eco-tourism, community tourism, research, build and develop unique, diverse and synchronous tourism products with high value, ensuring to meet the needs and tastes of tourists, prioritize the development of green tourism products, respect natural elements and cultural traditions of the nation.

Actively deploy information, promotion, advertising, and tourism linkage activities on information technology platforms so that tourists have full information and experience about tourism in Tam Dao town.
