3 huge bombs exploded in Lam Dong

On July 30, the Lam Dong Provincial Military Command announced that it had successfully detonated three MK-81 and M117 bombs that had been discovered by local people during agricultural production activities in recent times.

The three bombs were discovered in Cat Tien 2 commune, Nam Ha Lam Ha commune and Lang Biang ward - Da Lat.

Immediately upon receiving the information, the Lam Dong Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Engineering Department (General Staff of Military Region 7), the Defense Command of Region 1 - Duc Trong, and the Defense Command of Region 3 - Bao Lam to block off the scene and transport the bomb to a safe place for destruction.

Authorities detonated one of the three bombs that had just been discovered.

The MK 81 bomb is a demolition bomb, weighing about 113kg. In the history of the US Army's development around the 1950s, it was first used in the Vietnam War. The M 117 bomb is an aviation bomb, also used by the US military forces, weighing about 343kg.
